Educators debate whether credit for class participation should be included in high school students’ final course grades. Some educators believe credit for class participation should be awarded because they think that getting involved in class discussion and participating in group work are essential parts of the learning process. Other educators do not believe credit for class participation should be awarded because they think final course grades should reflect only the results of independent work like papers and tests that demonstrate what students have learned. In your opinion, should credit for class participation be included in high school students’ final course grades? In your essay, take a position on this question. You may write about either one of the two points of view given, or you may present a different point of view on this question. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
