Materials Distribution May 5th 9:20am!

Dear Families,
We have been approved to have a distribution day for math materials! Next week, parents will drive up to the bus lane on Francis Street for a “drive through” like distribution (while following social distancing guidelines of covid-19) and pick up their child’s bag of our math journal modules/homework book 4-6 as well as your child’s writer’s workshop journal. Each grade level has specific times so here are the kindergarten times. If you have a twin in the other class, I would suggest coming closer to 9:20 am so your time overlaps! I am so excited for this distribution and making math SO much easier at home! All other personal items in the classroom will be accessible at a later date.

*Shapas 9:00-9:20 am
*Ross 9:20-9:40 am

Here is the email in its entirety from Mr. Attee just in case you have other siblings in the building…

Colleagues,Could you please communicate the following information to parents via blog or via current classroom communication means?  Thank you for your help!

Math Book/ Remote Learning Materials Distribution – Tuesday, May 5th

DuVall Families,

In order to assist families with the continuation of remote learning, our staff has gathered student math books that we are planning on distributing on Tuesday, May 5th.  At this time, the math books along with some specific grade level supplies (and registration information for next year) will be distributed for each student.  Personal items that were not picked up on March 13th will not be distributed at this time.  Parents and students will not be allowed to enter the building as the learning resources will be brought to your vehicle by a staff member.  We are going to follow the same safety protocols that were used with the chromebook distribution.

Parents will drive up to the bus lane on Francis Street near the preschool door (door 4) on Tuesday, May 5th.  Please follow traffic rules and allow for distance between vehicles while the materials distribution is taking place. If your family has multiple siblings in our building, please indicate the names of the students so that you can make one trip.

Week of 4-27-2020

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you all healthy and safe. It was SO wonderful to see all of your precious babies on Wednesday’s google meet! Our grade level has been instructed to work 10-12 minutes a day in the following subject areas: reading, writing, math, science or social studies. Included in the work we do, we will also focus on your child’s fine/gross motor skills, movement and exercise and outdoor exploration! I am combining a lot of our subjects in cross curricular lessons (as usual) to make sure your child is not sitting in from of a computer for hours each day and more like if they were in school.

Ramadan Kareem: Happiest Ramadan wishes to you and your families for those of you observing Ramadan. I wish you the most wonderful month with your families. I also know how hard this will be for you to work, fast, teach your little ones and cope with all of the stay at home and social distancing. Please remember your health and family comes first and please let me know if I can help in any way.

Homework Due Date Change:

I have changed the due date to FRIDAYS this week! Mr. Attee needs my information for our building by Fridays as we keep track of participation. As always I am very flexible with due dates so please reach out to me if you have any issues completing assignments by Friday. Our new schedule will be from Friday to Friday next week so you will have more days to complete all the work! I apologize for the change and if this causes any inconveniences this week. Just do all that you can and let me know how I can help! I appreciate and thank all of you again for your continued support and just overall awesomeness!

With Gratitude,

Mrs. Ross 🙂

Specials Areas: Please make sure that you are visiting these sites to find your amazing weekly specials assignments! These teachers share multiple buildings and do NOT have a google classroom so here is the link to find them. I am not collecting assignments for them, they will be keeping track and grading for the 4th report card so you will send your work directly to them. You can find their information on the blogs. Have fun my little penguins!

Week of 4-13-2020

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well and for those of you who celebrated I hope you had cozy and peaceful Easter with your loved ones. Here is the info you will need to have for the week! All the files have been uploaded to the googleclassroom. I am so excited because I uploaded a lot of digital files this week to make your child’s remote learning effective and easy to attain. This week starts our first week of showing and documenting proof of work for the last semester/reportcard of kidnergarten. I will learn more information at our staff meeting this afternoon and will share it with you as soon as possible. From what we have been told, this week will continue to be a language arts focus so that is what I have shared for your child today. It was lovely to hear so many of your child’s voices last week and I am right here should they be having a hard day and just need to hear a friendly voice. Please, do not hesitate to call me. I love them so much and miss them daily. We are required to be available a certain number of office hours a day, and I will post all our new requirements shortly. But please call or email me ANY time of day that is convenient for you and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I am here with both my children and Ben needs a lot of my time monitoring his sugar levels and insulin/activity to help control his levels but I am always here for your family. 🙂
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ross

Accessing 3rd Report Card From Home

Dear Families,

As card marking 3 comes to a close, parents will be accessing report cards through Parent Connect. The district will NOT be mailing home a paper copy to you. It is my understanding that all parents have access to Parent Connect. This is where you can add money to your child’s lunch account, call in absences, view grades, etc.

Since this is a new way of getting the report cards dispersed to families, we are not sure when exactly they will be available, but the goal is by Monday (April 6th). My recommendation for now is to make sure your Parent Connect account is set up and active so when they are released, you will be able to access everything you need. As soon as I know more about the exact date, I will let you all know.

1. How do parents login to ParentConnect?

To login to ParentConnect, parents need their PIN and password; there are 2 options to get this information. Option 1 : Parents go to Dearborn Schools web site then ParentConnect link. If they don’t know the login info, they click (Need Your Login Information) link and it will prompt them to enter their email address as provided to the school and entered in MIStar (Menu/Enrollment/Student Editor/Contacts) and click Submit. This process emails them their PIN and Password.

Option 2 : If parents are unable to receive the email (no email, etc) and administrators need to provide the info, administrators can access MIStar Menu / System / ParentConnect Manager / Contacts Passwords as indicated below. Even though Option 2 is available for administrators, Option 1 is recommended because parents have to login to their email to retrieve the info and you can always add the email in Student Editor/Contacts if missing.

2. What is available in ParentConnect?
Following is the information that parents can see in ParentConnect.

ParentConnect ModuleHow it relates to Report Cards

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ross
