I wanted to thank you all so much for all your generosity and support helping us make this day so special! Below are some pictures I snapped at the party today of our precious penguins. Thank you all for the beautiful gifts as well I am so spoiled. My house and I smell so good from all the beautiful lotions and candles. ♥️ I wish you all a Happy Holiday and New Year! Week of 12-17-2018
Dear Families,
I can not believe it is already the last week before Christmas break! Time has truly flown by this year. We are going to have such a fun week, I am looking forward to it. I wanted to thank you once again for all your generosity and time you have given us to make this week so special. Here are a few reminders about this week and the break!
Spirit Week: 17th-21st:
12/ 17 Monday: DuVall Day- Wear DuVall spirit wear!
12/18 Tuesday: Ugly Sweater Day- Wear an ugly holiday sweater, or just a random sweater. To make it “ugly” you can put bows, candy canes, etc., on it!
12/19 Wednesday: Candy Cane Day (red and white)- Wear clothing with candy cane prints OR wear red and white, like a candy cane!
12/20 Thursday: PJ Day- Wear pajamas to help celebrate the PBIS whole school movie!
12/21 Friday: Holiday Day- Wear holiday gear! If you sell Christmas or not, you can dress up for your favorite holiday of the year! Hats/Headbands are welcome!
* Christmas break: class will resume on 1-7-19
*your child will receive a new homework packet this week with 10 pages to cover last weeks lessons and the lessons we will do this week. I will also give them two new games for their math game binder!
*Students will exchange books for a new on during library Check out this week so make sure library books are in their backpacks Monday night.
*Make sure your child is reading for 10 to 15 minutes each night over break to maintain reading foundational skills and fluency.
*On the 21st we cant wait to see you at the party in room 106 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. If your child will be donating anything that is not food feel free to send it in before Friday! Please make sure to sign in at the office and get a visitors pass.
*There will be an all school Sing-along, directly following our classroom party, in the gym on Friday at 2:30 PM and We would love to share that with you as well.
*DuVall Spiritwear orders are in! We have been told that some items are on backorder. If you have any questions about your order please contact Katherine at (313) 598-8586.

Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you warm and cozy with your families! We are just plugging away at our learning this month and I can’t believe December is already here! Your darlings are just growing so much in their learning and I am ever so proud of their progress 🙂 I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the moms that have been working so hard in our classroom and also working so hard to make our popcorn Fridays so special! Thank you to Morgan’s and Carter’s mom for volunteering to work in our room last week and to Morgan’s, Carter’s, Cameran’s, Johnny’s, Paisley’s moms for popping SO MUCH popcorn for all our hungry penguins! With the last two weeks to go before our winter break, here is what you need to know this week as well as important information before the break! If their are any changes of modifications to the week, I’ll be sure to write them as soon as possible!

Homework: This week your child will receive lessons 1-5 in Module 2 about shapes as well as a new math game to play in their games binder. Make sure they are in sheet protectors before writing on them to ensure that your child can play them over and over again this year! Welcome back Mrs. Dunlap and thank you again for your continued help with homework packets and folders.
Late Start: This Wednesday December 12th, 2018 is a late start! School will start one hour later than usual. I will meet students outside on the yellow line at 9:35am.
*Popcorn: This week we do not have school on Friday, if you have other children at DuVall there will be popcorn sales so bring those quarters at 8:35 am. Siblings can always buy popcorn for your kinders!
*Library check out: Library check out is back! So make sure your child brings their book back Tuesday morning 🙂 Thank you for all your help.
*Reading Packs: Make sure your child is spending about 10-15 minutes a night on the books, letters/words you find in there. This will help your child SO much reviewing their personal bags each night! Those students who had books sent home last week, make sure they are in there next week because they will be switched for one to two more this week!
LA Book: Snowman at Christmas

*Science: Unit on Climate and Weather cont. lessons on Mystery Science
*Social Studies: Continue New Unit on Needs and Wants. One last week of goods and services. Next week we will work on the idea of “trades.”
Important Dates:
NO SCHOOL: This Friday 12-14-2018! KDG students only will stay home. Their teachers will attend professional development meetings
Holiday Party: Please join us on Friday, December 21st in room 106 for a small holiday party from 1:30 pm-2:30 pm 🙂 Families are welcome to interact with their child as they work through various winter themed stations 🙂 Please just check in at the office to sign in and get a visitor’s pass before heading down. If you would like to donate to the party please check out the sign up genius this week for any items you’d like to send in. If you will donate non perishable items, they may come in at any time this week or next. However, if you will be donating any perishable food items for the party, please bring them the morning of the party! Thank you all in advance for your generosity and overall awesomeness!
