Dear Families,
I Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Thank you all for being so flexible with conferences last week 🙂 I only have one more conference to make up tomorrow night, but I will be at school the whole time should you need anything! Here is a look at our week.
Important Dates:
Conferences: 11/18 last date for snow day makeups
Homework: This week your child will receive a new homework packet and math game to play about geometry shapes!
Library Check Out: This Tuesday we will visit the media center and check out new books! (Last Tuesday we had a snow day)
Popcorn: This Friday we will have popcorn sales so bring your quarters!
Language Arts: This week our Narrative focus will be the book “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” We will focus on retelling the story with key details. We will place ourselves in the story again and give an appropriate reaction to the actions/decisions of Goldilocks and share different ideas about how we could write an alternate ending (just like we did with the three billy goats Gruff!). We will cont. writing our alternate endings to the Three Billy Goats Gruff stories and then write new endings to Goldilocks stories. We are going to be SO busy!
Sight Words: this, little Letters: Focus on Letter Formation (Reading Groups, writing workshop)
Math: We will continue our work in Module 2 on shapes!
Science/Social Studies: We will be focusing on our Weather Unit. This week we will be “weather watchers” and chart to compare temperature, wind, precipitation and clothing worn in various temperatures. In social studies we will discuss and work in small groups to sort and glue pictures on t-charts that show basic Needs and Wants. Please help us out by cutting out pictures from magazines and newspapers that show needs and wants (please send them in ziplock baggies marked needs/wants). Thank you in advance for your support!
