First grade artists are learning about light in their classroom and also did a project that uses light in the art room!
We looked at how light can travel through certain materials, like windows, how some materials let some light pass through, like tissue paper, and some materials block the light from going through and create a shadow.
We looked at stained glass artwork and saw how it let some light pass through and then created our own (faux) stained glass artwork!
Each artist chose warm or cool colored tissue paper to glue to their clear piece of plastic paper.
Then they cut out shapes from the opposite colored construction paper and added it to their paper. The tissue paper lets some light pass through, but the construction paper blocks the light from passing through.
