First grade artists began the year by looking at the artwork of Piet Mondrian. We reviewed horizontal and vertical lines as well as the primary colors as each artist glued down primary color rectangles and printed black lines.
Second grade artists began the year by looking at the collage artwork of Henri Matisse. Each artist cut out geometric shapes as well as free form shapes as they refreshed their scissor skills from last year. The shapes were all glued down to show overlapping for their collages.
