Fifth Grade 2-Face Self Portraits

Fifth grade artists are learning about self portraits and other types of expressive artwork this year!

For our first project, each student drew themselves with half of their face showing things that they enjoy to help people to learn more about them. The other half shows how they look.

Here are four students gathered around a table; they are each drawing with pencils in their own sketchbook.
Artists began by sketching their ideas in their sketchbooks.

They used colored pencils to color in themselves, trying to layer colors to make the best color matches. Then they painted their backgrounds with a color that expressed something about themselves or their interests.
