First Grade Kite Designers

First grade artists have been learning a song in music class from Japan about kites and they created their own kite in art class!

A circle was cut from paper and colored to look like a face with heart shaped eyes and there is a red string glued below it. There is a dolphin shape cut from paper, colored blue, with a red string hanging below it.

We started by looking at different kites throughout history. Kites come in all different shapes and sizes and some have different functions or purposes.

Each artist created a sketch for their very own kite; some artists were inspired by some of the kites we had looked at and others created a new design they had never seen before.

They used paper, dowels, string, fabric, and markers to create their kites.
