Second grade artists read the book “The Lima Bean Monster” by Dan Yaccarino and practiced drawing their own Lima Bean Monster.
Each artist learned how to have their monster show an emotion or expression by changing the facial features like the mouth, eyebrows, and eyes.
Then we learned about implied texture and each artist added an implied texture to their monster using oil pastels. An implied texture looks like it would feel a certain way, but doesn’t really.
Students finished by painting their monsters using a watercolor resist method.
