First Grade Warm/Cool Guitars

First grade artists have been learning about warm and cool colors in the art room!

They began by painting two different papers using only warm colors or only cool colors.  They chose from a variety of texture tools to add designs to their papers such as forks, sponges, stamps, popsicle sticks, splatter paint, etc.

Then we learned about all of the different parts of the guitar and created guitar collages with our painted papers.

Each student made a body, neck, sound hole, bridge, head and tuning pegs for their guitar and then added strings with warm of cool colored yarn or glitter.

Some students decided to make a ukulele instead and added four strings instead of six, since we were able to play a ukulele in class.
