Second grade artists are learning about texture in the art room. Texture is the way something feels when you touch it. There is real texture and implied texture in artwork.
After reading a story, each artist drew a monster from their imagination using shapes and lines. They used oil pastels to add implied texture lines to their monster to show if it felt furry, slimy, scaly, fuzzy, etc.
Then they used tempera paints to add color to their monster.
