Third Grade Busy Cities

Third grade artists looked at the paintings of James Rizzi for inspiration for this art project.

They each drew their own cityscapes with overlapping buildings and practiced changing the parts of the face to show different emotions on their buildings.

Students drew their buildings in Sharpie marker first. Here is a student holding up her artwork with several buildings drawn in Sharpie; each building has a unique face and windows

After drawing their buildings, they painted them with watercolor paints. Here are two student paintings; they have several buildings with different faces and details in various colors
