
Third grade artists created a shape drawing using one-point perspective. This drawing technique uses one vanishing point and can make objects appear to be moving further away from you as they get smaller moving towards the vanishing point.
They also practiced making tints and shades of a color by mixing or blending one color oil pastel with white and black oil pastels. We made sure to blend the oil pastels so that they looked like a painting.
The last step was to paint the background with the opposite, or complementary, color. Artists learned how to find opposite colors on a color wheel and learned how two opposite colors next to each other can create a lot of contrast.
