Third Grade Burlap Weavings

Third grade artists created these weaving designs on burlap fabric!

They began by looking at Native American artwork, and focused on Native American weavings for inspiration.

Using a scrap piece of burlap, artists were able to take out some of the weft strings to weave in yarn, cardboard pieces, beads, and pipe cleaners!

Each artist was able to come up with creative ways to weave in their materials! Some made a zig-zag design, some braided their strings before weaving them in, some made shapes and handles, and some invented new ways to add fringe.
