Second grade artists have been weaving in the art room!
We began by looking at the abstract artwork of Wassily Kandinsky, specifically his “Color Study:” Squares with Concentric Circles”.
Each artist painted concentric circles on a paper plate using colors that they mixed.
Detail lines were added to each circle for extra decoration.
Then the plates were turned into looms by adding notches and a warp string.
Every artist learned how to weave around their loom and some chose to add beads to their weaving.
