Dear Parent/Guardian:

On May 2nd your child will be starting the physical education health unit. The classes at this time will be divided into an all boy class that will meet one day and an all girl class that will meet on the other day.

The 6th grade unit will cover: nutrition and physical activity, effects of drugs social/emotional health , and personal health/wellness.

The 7th grade unit will cover: nutrition and physical activity, drugs/alcohol, social and emotional health, personal health/wellness, and HIV/STI prevention.

During the process of designing these materials, a parent advisory group was formed to voice their concerns about the material and to suggest changes along the way.

According to Michigan law, you have the right to review the materials being presented and may choose to excuse your child from participation in this program. If you do not want your child to participate in this program please sign and return the attached form by April 28th to your physical education teacher.
