Posted by WebGuy On November 6, 2016
School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”
If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools. Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years. Read More

Intro to 2-D Unit 2 Value
Posted by Niki Cassidy On October 18, 2016
We have moved on to a study of the Value and Space. During this unit we will be looking at art from the Cubist art movement and observational drawing with a focus on using value to create the illusion of space. The cubist movement approaches the problem of representing 3 denominational space by attempting to show all sides of an object at once on a two dimensional picture plane.
The first formative assessment involved students practicing with charcoal pencils in order to learn to control the medium in terms of light and dark value.
From there we created a simple drawing and fractured the planes by drawing line across the image and background. Students are currently completing the drawing using charcoal pencil to add value.

We will move on to study observational drawing culminating in an all white object still life drawing in charcoal.

Photography Unit 2
Posted by Niki Cassidy On September 28, 2016
In this lesson, students produce three distinctive photograms to understand how design can communicate ideas. They explore opaque, translucent and transparent objects and combine them to create organic, geometric and symbolic designs. They learn about the technologies and processes of photography. After completing their photograms, students are encouraged to be more articulate about their design choices as they critique their works and write individual artists’ statements.
