Hello Everyone,

Field Trip – I am still missing permission slips from #6,8, 10, 11, 15.  I must have all slips by Monday since I need to go pay for and pick up the tickets.

Star of the Week – Since we only had 2 days this week we are going to extend Amalia’s Star of the Week until next week.  Hani will start on Jan 21st and go through 1/31.  I will update the list and re-post it next week.

Permission slips are due tomorrow for field trip to Henry Ford on 1/22.  New time we will be leaving right away to arrive at the Henry Ford by 9 AM.  We will be finished by 1:30.  Thank you for everyone who turned it in today.  I will bring treats tomorrow to everyone who returned it today or tomorrow.  Slips were sent home today.

Reminder – No school – January 20th and 24th, 1/2 day in the AM on 1/23.

Spelling test tomorrow – I will be giving spelling test tomorrow on the following weeks for each student. If they students are not prepared for the test they can just take it again next week.

I will also start doing weekly math fact tests.  I am going to start 2nd graders on addition facts and test 3rd on multiplication.  This will be a review for most students, however it is important to keep up on their facts or they can forget them.

Attached below is the permission slip for our field trip on January 22nd.  Please print and return to school tomorrow, January 8th.   The Henry Ford requires payment by tomorrow.  If you are unable to print the permission slip please send the money in a note with your child’s name.  The cost is $7 per person.  Your child will get a special treat if the slip is returned tomorrow.   If you are chaperoning or if your child cannot attend for some reason please email me and let me know right away.

Star-of-the-Week-Letter

Below are the dates for the remaining “Star of the Week” students.

I have scheduled our next trip to go with the economics unit we are now studying in social studies and the science we will cover this spring.  We will be visiting the Ford Rouge Factory tour and IMAX show.  We will gather at the school at 9:15, we will drive personal cars to the Henry Ford.  Our IMAX show “Flight of the Butterflies” will start at 10 am then we will eat lunch and take the bus to the factory.  The self guided tour has 5 parts and takes about 2-2.5 hours.  I visited this summer with my daughters and we really enjoyed it.

I will send the permission slip out on Monday, January 6th and I must pay the museum by January 8th so I need the slips and money returned right away.  The PTA has offered to pay $5 for every student, so our trip will only cost $7 instead of $12.  Thanks PTA!   Please send cash in an envelope with your child’s name on it.  Please send exact change.

Dear Parents,

I have a sore throat and a cold and I will not be in today.  I am very sad that I will be missing the concert and the party.  However, Rachel Nicolajevs will be my substitute, so everything should go smoothly.  Have a wonderful time making gingerbread houses and take pictures for me.  I will hopefully be back tomorrow so I can give the students their presents from me, if not I will save them for after break.  I hope everyone has a wonderful, restful holiday and vacation.

Hello Everyone,

The concert will be at 9:15 instead of 9:30 as previously posted.   Ms. Case said she will start right at 9:15 so please arrive on time.

Please send in your supplies for the party tomorrow, if possible, so if something is missing I can ask someone to get it or buy it myself.

Parent helpers needed to set up for the gingerbread houses before the concert.  If you are available please let me know.  THANKS!

Concert dress is dressy like attending a fancy party or wedding.  However, gingerbread houses might be a little messy.

Thanks to everyone who has signed up or already brought in supplies for our Gingerbread houses and party.

If you have not signed up for anything we are still in need of more frosting, red hots, cookies, cupcakes, and gum drops.  My daughters and I made a gingerbread house this weekend and we found the following items also very useful:

• Twizzlers cherry red licorice (the kind that can be pulled apart into skinny strings),
• straight pretzel sticks
• mini marshmallows
• teddy grahams
• gummy bears and fish
