Homework
Reading Homework – each student should read 20 minutes each night. Starting in October we will record the number of minutes each month on a Book it Reading log. Students earn free pizza for completing their log each month. IF you lost your READING LOG print another one here.
Writing Homework – Each Friday the students will be assigned a new topic for A Paragraph a Week – All work should be completed in Google Classroom. Here is a link to Google Classroom – Students must log in with their lunch card number@dearbornschools.org and their birthday (MMDDYYY) format Friday or the Weekend – Brainstorm ideas on the new topic Monday – 1st draft of the paragraph Tuesday – Revise and edit paragraph Wednesday by 7 PM – Turn in final draft
Spelling homework – Students should practice the spelling words each day. They will be tested on their words each Friday. Here is a link to the words. We will be practicing our words each day with different spelling activities on iLearn. The log in to iLearn using their lunch card number and birthday (mmddyyyy) for their password. If student don’t complete their activties in class, then they should be completed as homework. Ask your student did they finish Vocabulary Match on Monday, ABC order on Tuesday, Practice Test on Wednesday? Here is a link to iLearn Spelling
Math Homework – We are now doing Montessori math and Zearn.org for math. They will be given Montessori math lessons at their level. The students will work through the Zearn at their own pace. When they finish a topic they will be given at study guide to study for a test. If they forgot to bring it home or you need a study guide they can be found on the Eureka math tab on my blog here is the link.
Multiplication/Division fact practice – Fact fluency is an important part of student doing well in math. Students should practice their math facts each day. We will do a fact fluency test each Friday. Student need to have these memorized to 3rd grade. They can practice with flash cards or MobyMax.
Unfinished work– any work that is not finished in class should be completed at home. Please check Parent Connect to keep up with your student’s missing assignments. If this link doesn’t work use the tab on the right side of my blog. IMPORTANT – Please click the show all assignments box right about the assignments section of Parent Connect, otherwise it only shows a few assignments, not everything.
