6th grade Art

Students constructed their own sketchbooks last week.  This week we are creating a collage on the front of this books.  The collage theme is the Spring Equinox and things that happen in the Spring

Criteria=

• FIRST DAY OF SPRING –MARCH 21
• Spring=march 21-June 21 (summer solstice)
• 7 different ideas overlapping
• ALL ideas need to be spring related
• 3 different size variances (XL,L,M,S,XS,XXS)
• Details on all ideas

7th & 8th grade Art 3D

Student created their paste paint compositions last Friday 2-10-17.  Today students worked on using those paste paint paintings to create book covers for their sketchbooks.  Students will construct the remaining parts of their sketchbooks Thursday and Friday this week.

6th Grade:

Students finished their Warm/ Cool Landscape composition.  Students started with a sketch, created a glue resist and finished with a warm or cool chalk and oil pastel color scheme.  The second part of the lesson was exploration with printmaking.  The printmaking work was used to create a border emphasizing the warm or cool color scheme in their landscape.  Amazing results!!!

7th Grade 2D:

Students finish Chuck Close lesson.

7th grade students are working on a Shape vs Form lesson using a Sketch and Wash Pencil.  The background will be completed using contrasting oil pastel colors.  2D=Shapes.  3D=Forms.  2D shapes + value= Forms!

8th Grade 2D:

Students finish their Day of the Dead skeleton genre.  Students used diagonal lines to create movement.  Students use glue resist, watercolor techniques and oil pastel.

8th graders also explored other watercolor techniques and styles in another lesson.

Now 8th graders are working on acrylic paint techniques using Michigan animals in the fall and winter.

Art club is from 3-4 on November 1st.  Please make arrangements to get picked up early.  I will make up time later.  I just had a meeting come up that I cannot miss.  Tomorrow 3-4 only.

6th

Students finished and turned in the Fighting Mynah’s story illustration along with their sequence chain writing.

We are now starting a landscape lesson using the seasons and deciduous and evergreen trees as our inspiration.

7th 2D

students are continuing their work on the Chuck close grids.  The end results will be a photo-realistic drawing of each student.

8th 2D

Students are studying the Mexican culture, exploring the Days of the Dead.  Students are using skeleton references to create  and skeleton Genre.  The next step is to create a resist using glue and watercolor paint over the dry glue.

6th grade

Students finished their value scales in class today and those grades will be on the first cardmarking.

7th Grade 2D

Students finished stitching their art sketchbooks and have started working on their Chuck Close Grid Self portraits.

8th Grade 2D

Students started their Coptic Stitch sketch books.  Those will be done on Friday 10-14-16.  Only half of the book will be graded by the end of the first card marking.

ART CLUB

Students started working on their empty bowls donations for our annual event on 11-21-16

6th Grade

Collage are finished and will be graded by Friday 10-7.  If students are not finished they need to take home and finish or come in early at 7:30 to complete lesson.  Students were introduced to artist Charles Sheeler, Feline Felicity,  to help them understand the importance of value in a drawing.  2d= flat shapes =circle, square, triangle.  3d forms=sphere, cube, cone.  Students will be working on an illustration of a story they read in class.

7th Grade 2D

Students are finished with sketchbook components and will be constructing book today and tomorrow.  This will include measuring, punching holes and stitching.

8th Grade 2D

Students should be finished with all color theory exercises and their signature sleeves by Thursday 10-6-16.  Students can arrive early to complete work in the art room at 7:30.  Students will start the coptic stitch, with waxed linen, and quilters needle on Friday.  Books should be completed by next Thursday and will be on the first card marking that ends on 10-14-16.

6th Grade

Students are wrapping up their Fall Equinox collages within the next couple days.  Our next lesson will be learning about drawing techniques.

7th and 8th Grade 2D

Students Paste Painted this week!!!!  Wow!!! Gorgeous work.

Students need to check their grade books to make sure all of their lessons are up to date.  They should have 4 color wheels, complementary mix, 16 color schemes and an essay that still needs to be recorded.

7th grade students will be done with their sketchbooks next week.

8th grade students just started their signature sleeve lesson which will be due by next Friday 10-7-16.

6th Grade;   Bell work = Equinox, Tempera

Students brainstormed about the occurrences during the fall equinox and what that looks like in Michigan.  Students will use this information of create a collage on the front of their sketchbooks.  Sketchbooks were constructed and graded last week.  Artist inspiration = Jacob Lawrence

7th& 8th  Grade 2D

Students are wrapping up multiple assignments on color theory.  Please check grade book.  PSI (Primary, Secondary, Intermediate), tint, tone, shade color wheels, 2 question essay, complementary mix and 16 color schemes should be completed by Friday 9-23-16 and graded by the 26th.
