We will do the personal narrative in class to set the expectations of quality writing.  Please ignore post about a homework assignment.

Dearborn Public Schools has a new spelling program this year.  In addition to the ten words that come home on Monday (in the student planner) there will be 5 additional “COLD” words.  These words will follow the spelling pattern practiced during the week to see if students mastered the targeted pattern.  Since these COLD words must be included  SPELLING TESTS will be taken in class on Friday mornings.  Please continue to use SPELLING CITY.com as homework to practice the spelling patterns.

We have had a great start to our school year.  We have 22 students who are respectful, responsible and safe at school!  We have discussed our class MISSION which is to do our best everyday to learn and follow the Whitmore Way.

Online math LOGINS went home yesterday and many students were able to give the website a try.  Please have your student login in daily to complete the HOMELINKS.  I realize every page cannot be printed but try to complete the pages on a sheet of paper or go over them together.  The games are also part of the homework.

If you do not have the internet I am asking that you try to go to the library or get your child on the site at least once a week.  I realize this may be difficult so I am very flexible and will try to print pages if necessary.  Please let me know if you are having issues through email bushm@dearbornschools.org.

This online math is new to all of us so we will work through it together.

Today was a great first day.  We did not have  a lot of time together but we did some engineering activities to solve problems and build some things.  Our theme this year is Building Community and Building Learners.  If you come across any fun team building activities our class would enjoy please let me know.

We also had Sav-a-Lot  on Telegraph join us and donate water, granola bars and other snacks.  If you shop there please mention to their staff that we appreciate them coming and all their donations!
