February Updates
Here is a curriculum update:
Our historians and scientists are doing a great job informing us of new things and learning presentation skills (speaker voice, eye contact with the audience).
Math– Geometry with line segments, rays, angles and rotations. We will have the Unit 6 test on Wednesday. Unit 7 will focus on multiplication story problems. WE NEED TO KNOW OUR FACTS!
Social Studies- 3 Branches of Government Executive (enforces the laws), Legislature (creates the laws) and Judicial (INTERPRETS the laws, are they fair?)
Science- Earth Science We are writing a research paper to answer the question How do we use solar energy? It is important so we save limited resources like gas, coal and oil.
Reading– we are close reading (using symbols to notice important ieas and vocabulary words) articles about solar energy and other non-fiction topics like the Olympics.
PLEASE read daily with your child and practice multiplication facts up to the 6s. Next week we will focus on 7’s and 8’s. After break we will do 9’s, 10’s and 11’s.
