Welcome Back

I am excited to be starting another year of teaching and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting all my new students.  I hope everyone had a wonderful, exciting and restful summer.  I had a great trip to California.  I am excited to hear about everyone’s adventures.

I am pleased to announce my new class.  Welcome to everyone who is new to my class, I look forward to meeting you on Tuesday!  Welcome back to everyone who was in my class last year, I am excited to see you again soon.  Here is the new class list:

I will meet the class outside by the back door.  Teachers will be outside at 8:25 to greet the students and parents.   Please arrive by 8:35.  PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INSIDE.   If you have school supplies please pack as much as your child can carry by themselves in a bag or back pack, if they can not carry everything send the rest in the next day.

As you start preparing for the new school year, you can find the supply list here on my blog under class information.  We have a larger class this year so several kids will need to share a locker.  Please keep this in mind when getting a backpack.   PLEASE DO NOT get at back pack with wheels, they will not fit in the lockers.

If your family is like mine your summer schedule is a lot different than your school year schedule.  Vacations, staying up late and sleeping in all need to go on the back burner and start preparing for a new school year.   Wake the kids up a little earlier each day until you are waking up close to when they will be getting up for the school year.  Remember school age children need 10-11 hours of sleep each night to be well rested for school.

This blog will be my main form of communication this year.  To save paper we are not sending home as many notes anymore.  Please subscribe to the blog by putting your email in the subscription box on the home page, please check your email daily for messages and class updates.  Please makes sure I have a current email.  I will sent weekly updates and reminders of events and changes.

If you have any questions please email me at keeblek@dearbornschools.org

I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, 9/8/15 at from 8:35 – 11:45.  We will bring the students back to the back door for pick up on the 1/2 day and every day.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Happy Summer

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  I had a wonderful trip to California with my family.  My husband and daughter Elizabeth are still out there while Elizabeth takes classes at Stanford this summer.  I look forward to hearing about everyone’s adventures and vacations.  Feel free to email me or post on the blog if you can’t wait to share.  Pictures are always welcome.   Here is a picture of my daughter Elizabeth and I in San Francisco with the bay and Alcatraz in the background.

On a sadder note I would like to inform everyone that Max the Hamster passed away.  He had a long happy life and brought joy to many children and adults.

Thank you and Summer Work

Thanks YOU!!  – I wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful presents, gift cards and cards that you sent in on the last day.  You are all so wonderful and generous.   I really appreciate everything.  This was a truly fabulous year, with a wonderful class of students and parents.  I will miss you all this summer.  I am off to California tomorrow.  My daughter is in a program at Stanford and I am flying out with my younger daughter to have a family vacation in Northern California before my oldest Elizabeth starts her college classes at Stanford.  We are very excited!

Summer work – This year instead of summer packets the school decided to recommend educational websites to keep up your students skills over the summer instead.  You should have all gotten a paper with the list of the websites and the student login information.  These are mostly websites we have already been using.  I have updated my Links and Passwords page on my blog with the new websites.   You can click the Links and Password page on the main page or follow this link:   https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/keebler/links/

There will be a Study Island Blue Ribbon Contest again.  More details to follow.

Zoo Trip tomorrow

Remember to wear a red shirt or your school t-shirt, pack a lunch and something to carry it in, sunscreen.

We are going to take the train to the back and walk forward.

Here are the chaperone groups:

Fatima, Hiba
Gregory, Hani, Omar
Medina, Ariana, Rawan
Hassan, Adarsh
Mahdi, Waad
MJ, Jeremy
Skye, Zahraa
Daniel

Because we had so many people that could not find a ride to downtown Dearborn for our Farmer’s market trip, we decided that we needed to get busing for this trip to Royal Oak.  We rented buses with enough space to accommodate all children and all adults for this trip.  The buses cost $612.48.  Mrs. Keebler put the cost of the bus on her personal family credit card.  We have now found out that 12 children are not going to be joining us on our trip.  This increases the cost of the trip per person.  We also found out that there are $24 in parking fees for the buses that were not added into the cost of the trip.   We need all families to please $5-10 more per student to help cover the extra fees that Mrs. Keebler has already paid on her credit card.  I am currently have a loss of $161.48.   Anything you are willing to give would be much appreciated!

There are also several chaperones that did not pay us and planned on paying at the zoo.  If you are a chaperone who has not paid yet, please check with Mrs. Truxall.  She pre-paid for the chaperones and didn’t get paid for everyone.  Thanks!
