Dear Parents,

We are fortunate that our school provides our students with a variety of educational tools through paid subscriptions. Please keep in mind that all students experience learning losses when they do not engage in educational activities during the summer. On average, students lose approximately over 2 months of grade-level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months. Some students can lose about 2 months of reading achievement.

In an effort to assist parents in extra learning opportunities. We are providing you a list of sites that are designed to be a review of material from the past school year and have been pulled from our current reading and math programs, so they should be familiar to you and your child. Below is a list of available paid website subscriptions. Each website has its own unique value.

Khan Academy-For math concepts -from early learning through college-level. The site offers an almost unlimited number of practice exercises, organized by topic, with instant feedback and progress data.

MobyMax- This site provides students with online resources in math, language and reading. All the lessons are aligned with our state’s standard expectation by grade level.

Myon- This site provides anytime, anywhere access to a library of more than 8,000 digital books with multimedia supports, real-time reporting and assessments.

Students have access to MobyMax, Khan Academy, & Myon through our district website.

Study Island- Study Island combines content that is highly customized to our specific state standards in math, reading, writing, science, and social studies with interactive features and games that engage students and reinforce and reward learning achievement. Ms.Schneider, Ms. Polster & Ms. Golec’s students have not accessed this site.

BrainPop- BrainPOP Jr. provides curriculum-based content geared specifically for K-3 students. The site offers a growing library of movies and interactive features across six subjects: science, health, writing, reading, social studies, and math.

Username: Your child’s student number (Ms. Golec’s students do not use their student number. They have a different username. Please contact your child’s teacher via email if he/she cannot remember their username.)

Razkids- Students have access to their leveled text through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. Students then take a corresponding eQuiz complete with an extended answer response to test comprehension and determine future instruction needs. Once a child has read ten or more of the leveled eBooks and passed each of the corresponding eQuizzes, they advance on to the next reading level where they have access to lengthier and more difficult text.

Capstone Library-This is a website that plays interactive books for emergent readers (students in kindergarten) or ELL readers! High-interest text combine with text-highlighting, read-aloud features and stellar book design to make reading a successful experience for every reader!
