Missing Work/Extra Recess – All students who had all the work complete got an extra recess today.  If your student didn’t get extra recess, please check Parent Connect to see what is missing.  Most assignments are attached to my lesson plans.  If you need help finding something please let me know.  Most assignments are part of the report card grade and will become a zero if not completed.  We will try to give extra recess each week, help your student to keep on top of their work so they can earn it next week if they missed it this week.  Thanks!

Popcorn– Each week students who have good behavior all week will earn a bag of popcorn.  If they didn’t earn popcorn this week talk to your students about what they can do to earn it next week.

Book Bag problem– This week we switch book bags so that each student would have the write number bag since we switch numbers this week.  Unfortunately, not everyone returned their bag, so we had some students missing their new bag because another student forgot to return it.   Everyone please return your bags on Monday and we will try to get it straightened out.  They will be returned and due again on Thursday as usual.

Extra prize donations- I will be giving prizes each week for good behavior and completing all your work.  It would be wonderful if some parents were willing to donate small trinkets, toys or candy for our prize box.  Thanks in advance for your support!

Mystery Science Pictures

The kids had fun experimenting with invisible forces.  We used Hopper Poppers to help us understand push and pull.  The blurs are the Hopper Poppers flying in the air.  I have covered the faces of the or left out the  children that didn’t turn in their photo release paper.

New Student/New Numbers

New Student – We had a new student start yesterday.  His name is Mohammed and he is a 3rd grader from River Oaks.  Please make him feel welcome.

Class Student Number – You might have notice a number in the upper right hand corner of your students papers.  I do this to help identify paper that students forget to write their names.  Because we have a new student and it is still close to the beginning of the year, we are changing all the students number in my class and in 3rd grade math.  This might cause a little confusion the first week with people getting thee wrong papers.  If you get any papers that are not your student’s papers please return them to school.

2nd Grade Social Studies quiz-2nd Graders will have a Social studies quiz near the end of this week on Thursday or Friday.  They will be quizzed on the material from Studies Weekly Week 18 – Government.  They can review this material online, by going to StudiesWeekly.com, log in is FirstLast name, password First name.

3rd Grade Fire Fighter visit/field trip – This week the 3rd graders will have a visit on Wednesday from a fire fighter to discuss fire safety.   Next week on Tuesday, October 4th the 3rd graders will be visiting the Fire Smoke House.  They will get to practice what to do if there were a real fire.   If you would like to chaperone please have your papers completed with the office.  If your child has asthma please indicate that when the permission slip comes home.

Completing Work

Completing Work – Please check your student’s Parent Connect account on a regular basis.  Most grades will be put in by Friday.  Students will earn a prize on Friday if they have completed all of their assignments.

  • Please do not throw away any assignments unless you see that it has been recorded on Parent Connect.   I have had several students tell me that their parents have thrown their work that needed to be redone in the garbage.
  • If an assignment says REDO, students are expected to correct the incorrect items and turn it in again.
  • Finished work will have a grade (1-4) with a circle around it.
  • If it has a check in the upper right hand corner, then it is recorded in my grade book and can be viewed on Parent Connect.  If it comes home without a check it is not recorded and should be returned.
  • Most assignments are part of your students report card grade.
