Hour of the Code– Our class started doing computer science this morning during the Hour of the Code.  This gives students the opportunity to program computers to do different challenges.  They really LOVED it.  We will be focusing on this during our science time for this week and next.  They can also do this at home by logging into Clever.com.

Here is the website. https://code.org/about

Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, chemistry or algebra. Code.org organizes the annual Hour of Code campaign which has engaged 10% of all students in the world, and provides the leading curriculum for K-12 computer science in the largest school districts in the United States. Code.org is supported by generous donors including Microsoft, Facebook, the Infosys Foundation, Google, Omidyar Network, and many more.

High-Touch High-Tech– We are very excited that the PTA has arranged for High-Touch High-Tech to come to our classrooms.  They will be in the building on Thursday and Friday of this week.  They are a company that does hands-on science experiments with the kids.  It is exciting and fun.

3rd Grade Math Test – Because of High Touch High Tech doing science during the math time we will be unable to have math on Thursday and we be pushing the test off until Monday.  Study guides went home today and should be completed and returned by Monday 11/9.  Please review the material from the study guide with your students.  Here are the answers to the study guide to help the parents review with their students: grade3pretestunit2-answers

Socks-Due to time constraints we were unable to complete our science today and will finish it tomorrow.  We still need everyone to please bring in a pair of socks.  We are testing the thermal properties of socks, so the thicker the better.  They will be returned to you unharmed.
