Happy New Year!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful restful break.  I am doing well with recovery and I am in much less pain than before.  I get more mobility each day.  I am scheduled to return on 1/12 after my post-operative doctors appointment.

MAP Skills – It is very important that everyone is practicing their MAP skills every day.  I’m pleased to see that several of you are working hard.  I am working hard to keep up with assigning new missions.  I assigned new missions today for everyone.  Some students are not working at all.  Please make sure that your child is spending a minimum of 20-30 minutes each day on their MAP skills.  This is the best way to practice for and improve scores on our up coming NWEA testing when I return on the 12th.  If you need help logging in please let me know.

Reading Logs/Projects this coming week– I would like to request that everyone please do a reading log for this week, since I will not be in school on Wednesday to see the projects.  If you already started a project just save it for the next week.  Please print the reading logs off the blog in the homework section.  If for some reason you are unable to print please have your student write 5 entries on a piece of paper.  Be sure to include the title of the book and the author.

Upcoming Dates to remember:

1/8 – Return to school

1/8 – Adam is Star of the Week

1/11 – Magic of Science Assembly

1/12 – NWEA Testing

Happy Holidays

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful Christmas.  I hope everyone is having a restful break.  I have completed my surgery and I am home recovering.  I get a little better each day.  Thank you for all of the thoughtful presents.  I really enjoyed all of them.

I wanted to remind everyone that NWEA testing will begin after I return from recovering January 12th.   I would love to see everyone percentile scores increase.  It is important that everyone practice for the test with the MAP skills website.  I have added a lot of new missions and I will try my best to keep up on assigning new missions, but feel free to send me an email reminder if they need more.  I would like to remind everyone of the Links and Password page on my blog.  This gives you all the information you need to login to all the different websites we use.  The one that gives people the most problem is Clever.  You need to go to Clever.com and login with Google.  Type the student’s lunchcard number@dearbornschools.org as the user name and the password is their birthday mmddyyyy.

I have also added the new spelling for week 15 if students want to work on that.

Enjoy and Happy New Year!  See you in 2018!

Social Studies quiz – We will be taking the lesson quiz tomorrow.  You can find a copy of the quiz in the Student History book on Google classroom or on my lesson plans page 48.

Vocabulary and Word Game – some students didn’t complete the Vocabulary and Word Game Crossword puzzle.  I have added the Michigan Community Studies Weekly newspaper to Google classroom so that they can finish it tonight.  We will correct it tomorrow before the quiz.

Outdoor weather gear – PLEASE make sure that your students are prepared to go outside each day.  If they don’t own boots please send an extra pair of shoes so we don’t have wet carpets to sit on.  They will not be allowed to play in the snow if they don’t have snow pants and boots, they will have to stand on the sidewalk.  We will go out each day the weather is greater than 20 degrees with the wind chill.  If it is within 5 degrees of 20 please make sure they are ready to go out.

Gingerbread houses/party Friday 2 PM- please make sure you have signed up for something to bring to our party.  There are only 15 people signed and many things still missing.  If we don’t have enough supplies we will not be able to make the houses.
