Week of March 16

In addition to the minutes that were suggested students should work on ..

Daily Reading Response Journals (Students will submit on Google Classroom)

Math Problem Set and Homework (Posted on this Blog) Please watch the videos for support.. This will not be submitted considering math is done on paper.. I trust that parents will be checking on student work 🙂

ELA Ready Common Core Assignments (Posted on this Blog) This is also something that will not be submitted but done to prepare students for their short response.

ELA Ready Common Core Short Response (Students will submit the short response on Google Classroom)

RCC Lesson 13

I understand that many were not able to pick up their RCC Textbooks.. I have posted the lesson that we are doing this week. I plan to post a few times a week. I suggest that this is done in a notebook. I will create a google classroom lesson that allows students to submit their Short Responses for every lesson (they know about this- we do this every lesson).

Daily Minutes

Zearn- One lesson a day (not including weekends)

Iready- 30-40 Minutes a day

Read a good-fit book for minimum 30 minutes (can read for more if you’d like).

I will be posting google classroom assignments shortly.

Working from Home!

Good morning!

I hope everyone is doing good during this time 🙂 I want to remind everyone that if anything is needed to reach out and I will help WITH ANYTHING.

Learning will happen online (as you know) I will communicate assignments on this blog and announce when an assignment or activity has been posted on class dojo. You will also be able to reach out through class dojo or email (whatever you prefer).

I will also post a schedule to help give you an idea how your child’s day should look in regards to school and learning time. I obviously know that with every family there are different circumstances and that it may look different amongst households and that is completely fine.

Thank you for being patient during this time and being amazing parents to our amazing students 🙂

Message from Amal Alcodray, Principal Snow School

March 13, 2020 by Amal Alcodray

Dear Snow Families,

The Michigan Department of Education MDE has recently given Snow a school grade of letter “A”!  Our students are performing and we want to continue to soar! During this time of shut down, we are going to work hard to continue student learning.  We are asking all Snow families to do the following:

-iReady for a minimum of 2 hours per week.

-Read “Good fit” books. (K-2) 20 min daily, (3-5) 30-45  min daily.

-At least 1 lesson per day on Zearn.

-4th and 5th grade Khan Academy for 20 minutes daily.

-Grades 2-5 will receive assignments via Google Classroom.

There will be additional assignments based on classrooms/grades. Teachers and support staff will be monitoring student learning.

Please check your emails regularly! This will be the main method of communication between school and home. Phone calls will be made as necessary.

Due to the fact that we are moving to online learning for this period of shut down, please limit recreational screen time! (Social media, YouTube, video games, television, etc…)

Teacher Blogs:

iReady, Moby Max, Khan Academy and Google Classroom all can be accessed through Clever.  Directions to login will be posted on the Snow blog.

I will make announcements as I receive them on the Snow blog.  Thank you in advance for supporting our students!

Sincerely,

Amal Alcodray

Snow Principal
