What is Happening!


Think of Ecosystems that you know of and how we humans effect these ecosystems.
What ways can you support your local ecosystem and do better for the environment?

ECS Specialist, Mrs. Murray works with our kids everyday!

Students in the ELI groups are met three times a day by both the ECS Specialist and Ms. Reslan. Along with many fun phonics activities and games, students are enjoying the small group setting and getting familiar with reading strategies and routines within every group session.

Daily Five!

During Daily Five, students have the option to record themselves read in the recording booth! Also, if they choose work on writing or read to self they may sit in our classroom donut.

 

Wheels!

Students were able to sort between objects that had wheels and did not have wheels. They were able to identify why we have wheels and how they help us. They did this in cooperative learning groups.

Spaghetti in a Hot dog bun!

Students learned about differences and accepting differences by reading Spaghetti in a Hot dog bun while enjoying Spaghetti 🙂

 

 

Snack time fun! As students are enjoying their pretzel snack, they create heart words.

Nerd Day for spirit week!

Parts of a Plant

Students learned about the parts of a plant. They were able to observe and record the different parts of the plant provided.

Yoga Brain Break !

Kindergarten Parent Make and Take!

Kindergarten students and parents participated in creating and connecting rings in making tricky teen numbers! This allowed students to see how two numbers together can make a teen number and also allow parents and students to work together with the school community.

Students made fairy bread! Step by step, they were able to follow directions and write a how-to before participating in the fairy bread activity.

We are learning about how a pulley works! Thank you Sally and Qasem for demonstrating how to use a pulley and explaining how it makes lifting things easier.

Recording Booth

  • Daily Five Recording Booth! Students record their reading to self rotation in our recording booth during Daily Five. The booth is made of sound proof foam that allows students to really focus when reading. We can look back and see our progress as readers and focus on strategies to help us become better readers!

  • Students are sorting between things that have wheels! They worked in cooperative learning groups and were able to help one another during the activity! Amani and Maram are both gluing their pictures!

  • Science this week explores the forces of motion! We are learning about how wheels help us move things more efficiently. Kassem Kdouh is helping Ms. Reslan demonstrate how effective wheels are when moving heavy things such as the container of wooden blocks. Students were able to sort between things that have wheels and things that do not. img_7087
  • During math workshop, students are familiar to flexible seating where they can work anywhere around the room! Here Ali Bazzi is writing his numbers 1-100 in our classroom library.

Number Walk!

Students went on a number walk to explore all the different numbers they can find in the neighbor and around the school! They identified all the different uses of numbers.

Pumpkin Experiment!

We explored the different features of our class pumpkin and for the final observation we wanted to see whether the pumpkin will float or sink in water. To our surprise the pumpkin floated!

We are learning how to measure! Students were all given a measuring strip to find all the different objects that they can measure around our classroom. They even measured each other!

SOCIAL STUDIES:

We are learning how to get along with others! Students discussed all the different ways that they can get along with others. The discussion included sharing, taking turns, being a good friend, and being helpful. Our students we practicing all the different qualities that are needed to get along with others!

READING:

We are learning the letters of the alphabet and having fun while doing so!
