6th Grade Exploring Languages (A Day): We have learned about German greetings, numbers 1-10, colors, days & months. Students also learned about family & body vocabulary last class. I ask that students continue to work on their German Family & Body Vocabulary projects. Directions are posted below. The packet is also posted below if students left it in their lockers (posted today on Google Classroom). Vocabulary can be found on page 6. If students created the project already on a poster or paper, you can email me the picture(s) of it for me to evaluate (jedrzem@dearbornschools.org). You can also text me the picture of your project to this phone number: 1-248-716-5358. If you haven’t started, you are able to create the project on Google Slides & then email it to me. Follow the directions below for the project (Date posted: March 10th). When you are complete with the project, you can read through the PowerPoint on Germany (posted today). Continue to practice on Quizlet.com (German study sets were posted on March 2nd below). Students will still be expected to take a German test online next week. Directions will be posted on a later date.
7th Grade Conversational Spanish classes: Make sure all animals projects are turned in. See yesterday’s post for directions. Today, go to iLearn and open up “Unit 2 Notes.” Copy 2.3 in your notebooks (Scroll down to the 3rd & 4th page). Then open up “Unit 2 Book Pages” and read through pages 58-60. You will be completing activities tomorrow on iLearn. Finally, Study 2.3 on Quizlet (posted March 5th). Study using “Learn” and change the options in the lower left corner to answer in Spanish. You will be taking a quiz on iLearn from home soon.
8th grade Yearlong: Students will take the Ch. 4 Vocab 1 quiz (eventually) using iLearn. Study Quizlet sets posted on Google Classroom (posted: March 5th). You can use the Quizizz to study as well (posted March 10th). Today, copy down Ch. 4 Grammar 1 (tener) notes found in iLearn: ¡Exprésate! Notas y Tarea. Watch the “Tener” video. Watch the “goofy” student generated “Tener Video #1.” Then open up “Ch. 4 Book Pages” and preview page 126.

7th & 8th Grade Conversational Spanish classes: Students began working on an animal project last week. Directions are posted on iLearn. If you left your project at school, you can use this opportunity to create it either on paper (take a picture of it & either email it to me: jedrzem@dearbornschools.org or text it to me: 1-248-716-5358. If you prefer to start over, you can create it on Google Slides by inserting images instead of drawing. Remember to include the sentences in Spanish for every slide. Then email me the slides. This will be evaluated. For any student that is caught up, please go to the Quizlet sets on Google Classroom (posted March 5th). Study using “Learn” and change the options in the lower left corner to answer in Spanish. You will be taking a quiz on iLearn from home at a later date.
8th grade Yearlong: First, read through the chapter 4 Grammar 1 notes on iLearn. Then watch Ch. 4 Grammar 1 VIDEO. Next, view the “Ch. 4 Grammar 1 Notes PowerPoint (Indefinite Articles).” Go on Google Classroom to check out the flashcards on Ch. 4 Grammar 1 Quizlet. Finally, complete the activity on the bottom of the page: CVG pg 40 Act 9. Students who would like extra practice, click on: Ch. 4 Workbook Pages (Extra Practice). Work on the first 4 pages.

Students reviewed 2.1 vocabulary today through a variety of activities today. Tomorrow, students will take notes on 2.2. On Wednesday, they will create an animal project. On Thursday, we will learn to create singular & plural sentences about animals & colors. We will review concepts on Friday. The test will be next Wednesday. 6th Grade Exploring Languages: A day will take their Spanish test on Monday, February 24th. Both A & B days will write a CER on an Aztec Gall Game on Tuesday & Wednesday. I will be out for a professional development training those 2 days. Students will begin learning about German greetings on Thursday & Friday of this week. Homework will be to complete page 1. Study German Greetings using Quizlet.com and study the culture in the packet at the end of the week.
7th & 8th Grade Conversational Spanish classes: Students will review how to create singular and plural objects using indirect & direct object pronouns on Monday. They will write a CER on Tuesday and take notes on unit 1.3 on Wednesday. I will be out for a professional development training on Tuesday & Wednesday of this week. We will focus on questions & answers in Spanish on Thursday. On Friday, students will record conversations using Screencastify. Check planners for homework that is assigned in class daily. Greetings and welcome to Smith’s Foreign Language Blog. During the first week of the new semester, we will be getting to know each other, going over Smith’s PBIS procedures, dress code policy, classroom expectations, and getting our supplies gathered. Learning the curriculum should begin at the end of this week. Please click on the SYLLABI link on the top of the blog to view the classroom supplies needed for each grade level. Students will also be asked to visit Google Classroom after receiving a classroom code to register in order to provide parent contact information for Remind.com, verify that the syllabus as been read, and allowing pictures/videos taken in the classroom. I look forward to getting to know each and every student this year!!!

Yearlong Spanish 8th graders: We will have our midterm exam on Friday, January 24th. We will continue to learn vocabulary & grammar concepts this week focusing on Ch. 3 Vocab 1 & Grammar 1. These will be included in the midterm.
