There are many students will missing assignments. As of 11 AM this morning I only had 1 student finished with everything. During my meetings today I talked to several who only have 1-3 assignments left. Therefore, we are going a catch up week. I have mostly been reassigning work from previous weeks, this week. I am not assigning any new work IXL, math, science, or social studies tomorrow or Friday. You need to finish your week 28 spelling test sometime this week, it doesn’t have to be Friday. Please work on finishing all your missing work. Please check Parent Connect to see what you need to finish.

Google Slides Research – If you have finished all your work. You get to pick any topic that is educational to research. You can learn about volcanoes, tree frogs, lightning, kangaroos, electricity, magnets or whatever else interests you. Make a Google slide presentation, includes, pictures, words, and videos if you would like. Then share your presentation on your portfolio. Here is a video that explains how to add your presentation to your portfolio. If you still need help after watching the video the set up a time to meet with me and I’ll show you how to add it. You can only do research if all your work is complete first.

Office Hours are now appointment only – I will gladly be there is you need me, but I am not going to stay by the computer if we do not have an appointment. I would just like to meet briefly to make sure you know how to get in to the new video chat in iLearn and you know what all you missing work is:

Video Chats are now in iLearn– Here is a video explaining what to do. The district had some problems with doing chats in Google Meet. So we will now be meeting in iLearn. It is very easy. Sign into iLearn, click on the green frog/lizard – Mrs. Keebler’s Class ELA and the link is right near the top under Announcements. I have 3 students that have not joined this class – 8, 9, and 19. I will send you each a Dojo message on how to join.

New Star of the Week is Jad – our new star of the week this week. He will be sharing all the things we shared when we could meet as a classroom but now it is all virtual. I will add his Virtual Poster to Class Dojo. Here are the changes: instead of making a poster of pictures about your life, please make us a Google slide presentation that I can share with the class. Insead of bringing in show and tell, please make us a video to share your show and tell. You can also make a video to share your favorite book. Please have your parents write us a letter telling us what makes you so wonderful and special to them. Next week’s Star of the Week for the week starting 5/4 – Layla, 5/11 – Maha will be Star of the Week, 5/18 – Hussein will be Star of the week.

Class Dojo points for participating each day- When you show up to your class meetings at the correct time you will get Class Dojo points.

New things to do in Science Fun area– I have added new websites to explore in the Science Fun area of our Science iLearn class.

Reading Group assignments-make sure to complete your assignments from last week before your next reading group on Monday or Tuesday

Chromebook distribution– if you requested a Chrome book – they can be picked up Monday 4/27 from 10:00-1:00 and Tuesday 4/28 from 11:00-2:00. Parents will pull up curbside and their chromebook will be brought out to them. A signature is required for the chromebook.

Initially I had set up and sent out invites to all of the students for grade level Music Google Classrooms.  After the new requirements came in we (Music Department) started making K-2 and 3-5 Google Classroom groupings, so instead of 6 different classes, we now have 2.   Last night I archived the old ones because students were still going to both.  Here are the class codes for the new classrooms:

Thank you for everyone who showed up at your Google Meet today. We worked on Reading Groups. Sorry for having to change the times around. One of my students had the same meeting time as her sibling in another class. Hopefully, we will have no more conflicts and this schedule can stay the same for a while.
