I just wanted to make sure you are aware that Dearborn is offering a totally online school option this year if you have concerns about your child attending school. Here is the message from Dr. Maleyko.

Week 2 – A Boy Called Bat

I am looking forward to another week in our schoolwide reading adventure!  I hope that you are enjoying the story of Bat so far, I definitely am!

This week we will read Chapters 6-10 and complete the activities that are listed in the Activity Menu!

When you have completed reading the chapters and challenging yourselves to finish one to two tasks on the Activity Menu, upload your hard work to this week’s click here for the Padlet Activity Board! Don’t forget your name in the title section on Padlet!

I’m looking forward to see everyone at our meeting on Wednesday 8/5 Group A – 3:00 Group B – 3:30.

Reading Tests – I have assigned a reading test on Raz-Kids for everyone. This will give me more information about what areas we should focus on in reading. To take the test please click here. Click the circle with your name, click your picture password from last year. If you are new your picture is a car. The teacher code is kkeebler0 if you need it. You get to the assessment in the upper left corner where it says Reading, click Reading then click Assessment.

A Boy Called BAT Week 1 July 27-31

  • Activity Menu for the whole school
  • Week 1 – Read Chapters 1-5 with the family. We recommend 15 minutes a day. If you don’t have time to read as a family your student may listen to this recording of the book.
  • Meet with Mrs. Keebler, Wednesday July 29th *Group A 3:00, *Group B 3:30. Here is a short video explaining how to get to the video chat.
  • Choose one or two activities from the Activity Menu to do.
  • Post your activities on Padlet – Click on the link, the pick your activity, create your activity electronically (Google docs, Google Draw) or take a picture. Click the + to add your link or picture. Don’t forget to add your name to your creation in the Padlet post.

It starts at 4 PM! 

Come to get your family’s copy of “A Boy Called Bat,” a delicious treat, and answer any questions you might have!

Composition Books with a sewn seam 

If the cost is too large please donate what is works for your family.  Your generosity is appreciated!  A pencil box will be supplied for each child by the school – DO NOT buy a pencil box

48 – Pack of #2 PRE-SHARPENED pencils

1 hand pencil sharpener with cover to catch pencil shavings

1 package of pink erasers                    

1 package of colored pencils           

1 package of thin markers                              

1 package of highlighters

1 package of dry erase markers          

4 glue sticks                                             

1 pair of scissors

We usually do not have enough room in class to store an entire year of supplies. Please send in what your child will need for a few weeks and store the rest at home. Ask your child when they are getting low to remind you to send in more supplies. Thanks!

Public Discourse paragraph

Many students didn’t complete the Public Discourse paragraph and will be getting an LP (the lowest score on the report card) if not turned in by 5 PM today. Make sure your write a paragraph at the bottom of the plan. The following students need to complete it: 1, 2, 3, 5, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25. Some of you completed the paragraph but have corrections to make. There is a rubric explaining what is needed. Here is a link to the assignment. The unit is in iLearn.

Virtual Field to the San Diego Zoo Tuesday

I look forward to seeing everyone at 2 PM for the virtual trip to the San Diego Zoo tomorrow.

Padlets – I have posted the 3 Padlets in Class Dojo. This is what you’ll find:

  • A Virtual Yearbook of Pictures
  • A Virtual Talent Show – add your own video of your talent
  • A Virtual Bucket Filler / Goodbye Message board – Add your favorite memory of the year, say goodbye to friends, or fill someone’s bucket.
