There was a water main break today at school and so all in-person learning labs will now be online for Friday.

Learning Labs Continue this week and WIDA testing – The following students will be in the building this week:

March 1st – K-2 begin Hybrid learning in school

March 8th 3-5th begin Hybrid learning in school

Virtual days – There will now be 4 virtual days due to staff vaccinations – March 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th.

Tests this week – We will have our Mid-module math test on Thursday, Spelling test Thursday and Benchmark Language Test on Friday

Parent Meeting: Safe Return to School

I am feeling sick from my COVID vaccine yesterday and I won’t be able to do class today. Please find your work on the Thursday folder and finish any missing assignments on the Tuesday folder. Hopefully, I will feel better by tomorrow.

Reminder – Tomorrow we start in-person learning labs at the school – I will see the following students at the school tomorrow and Friday –  Please send me a message through Schoology or email to confirm you are able to come to the building.  We will meet at the playground door.  Please bring your math book and any old reading books.  If you can’t meet in the building please join on Zoom.

There will be LOTS of changes over the next few weeks as we transition back into the school building. Things may seem confusing at times, I will do my best to make things clear and send reminders as schedules change.

Next week we will have more asynchronous learning as I get the classroom ready for students and get my last covid vaccine. Then we begin in-person learning labs. These students will come to the building next week. We know that it can be challenging to bring your students to school for a short time so if they can’t make it to the building I would like to still have them join our in person group on Zoom. Please let me know ahead of time so that I can set up the Zoom for your student.

New Reading Groups- We will also have new reading groups as we start to get used to our new A/B schedule that will be starting on March 8th. I have given the reading groups new names, so we don’t confuse them with the old reading groups.

Here is who is coming in the building for the next two weeks –

On March 1st we will begin a new schedule. We will begin school at 8:40 instead of 8:55 and end school at 2:20. K-2nd grade will begin the hybrid A and B days, while 3rd-5th remain at home this week. 3rd – 5th will begin our A and B days in the building on March 8th.

COVID Screener – Everyday that your child comes in the building you must do the COVID screener with your child. I have placed this in the Parent Folder and on the Welcome screen of Schoology. If your child is sick, DO NOT send them to school.

We are very excited that we have reached the metrics and are approved to begin transitioning into the face to face learning! Please see below for important dates for phasing back to school:

Thursday, Feb 11th- Asynchronous learning (no live zooms)

Friday, Feb 12th- No School (Winter Break)

Monday, Feb 15th- No School (Winter Break)

Tuesday, Feb 16th- Asynchronous Morning. Half Day. Nothing for the PM.

Wednesday, Feb 17th- Asynchronous Morning and Social Studies.  Zoom calls for Learning labs between 2 and 4 PM.

Thursday, Feb 18th 3rd Grade In-person Learning Labs Begin! The teacher will send a schedule. 

Monday, March 1st- Hybrid K-2 begins

Monday, March 8th- Hybrid 3-5 begins

Tests – This week we are having History test on Wednesday, Spelling quiz and a Science Test on Thursday. The spelling words are in the Spelling folder in ELA and study guides for science is in the Science is in the Tuesday folder. The study guide for Social studies is in the Monday folder.

Wildlife Character Assembly – 9 AM – Wednesday 2/10

No School – Friday, February 12th – Monday, February 15th – Midwinter Break

Materials Pick up –We are starting an new math module next week, your child needs his/her book and tools to help in the understanding of that module. Come pick up your math materials on Monday, February 1 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. You will see a white plastic box with 3rd grade materials pick-up, find your child’s bag. Please return the old reading books. There are new books in the bag.

Valentine’s drop off – If your child is participating in Valentine’s Day please drop off to Howe Montessori office on Monday, February 1st between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m! You will see a tub for each grade level outside the office. Please place your child’s valentines in that box.

Tests – Next week we will have the Unit 4 Math test on Wednesday. We will have the Spelling test on Thursday again and weekly Benchmark Unit 5 week 1 quiz on Friday.

Mindful Mondays will begin on February 1st at 1 PM. Students will be learning techniques for Social Emotional Learning.
