Returning to school – We are back to our Hybrid schedule this week. I would like to assure you that we will continue to follow all the CDC guidelines to keep your child safe. Please do your part by completing the Covid-19 Screening Tool each morning before sending your child to school. If they are feeling sick in any way please keep them home. Please remember if you were traveling over spring break to get your child tested for COVID before returning to school. We can work together to get through this safely.

Zoom in the Room – We will be trying something new this week. It is called Zoom in the Room. When students are at home they will be Zooming with the students who are in the classroom. I have updated the schedule on the main page. If this works will continue this schedule, if it doesn’t we will go back to the regular schedule next week.

Ramadan Fasting – many students have indicated that they are interested in fasting for Ramadan, please complete the Google Form if you wish give your child permission to fast. Students who do not have permission with NOT be fasting.

Standardized Testing – The 3rd graders will begin testing the first week in May. M-STEP will be May 6-7, 20-21, 24-25. NWEA testing will be May 17-18, June 1 and June 3. Students who practice their skills on MobyMax tend to get better scores on their tests. Please have your child practice on MobyMax for at least 15 minutes each day.

Spring Break starts today – we will return to school on Tuesday, April 6th.

Report Cards – went home yesterday and today, they are in a white envelope in your child’s backpack.

Easter Bunny – the Easter Bunny came to school yesterday and today. I posted pictures on Class Dojo.

Class Dojo – the students have been earning points on Class Dojo for class participation and completing the work. Each Friday they can redeem a prize if they have earned enough points for the week. If your student didn’t earn a prize, please remind them to complete all the work on asynchronous days, I give 1 point for every assignment completed at home. Zoom in the room – Since the A group is missing class on Monday, April 5th we will try Zoom in the Room on Tuesday, April 6th. This means the A group will sign on at 8:40 for our morning meeting and then come back at 9:40 for the class lessons. They will work on zoom while we work in class. If this works well we might try it again. I have sent home the materials A group will need on Tuesday. Please make sure they have their new benchmark magazine and math book ready to work Tuesday on Zoom.

Moby Max Contest and Missing work – Be sure your student is practicing on MobyMax everyday and complete any missing work. We will begin spring standardized testing not to long after we return from break.

DON”T FORGET – Tomorrow is an early dismissal.  Student pick up at 12:45.  NO LUNCH will be served, please send extra snack tomorrow!!

For tomorrow, bring 2 masks in a baggy. It is good to change your mask after it gets sweaty from running around at recess, and to have a back-up in case of emergencies.

Economics test on Wednesday – Study with the Jeopardy Game in Social Studies. There will be NO spelling test this week.

3rd Marking end this week – All missing work due by Tuesday, March 16th at 5 PM.

Hello Parents, 

REMINDER – There will be NO classes in the building until Monday, March 15th.

No School – March 29 – April 5th – Spring Break.

Report cards will be coming soon.  All missing work must be turned in by Tuesday, March 16th at 5 PM.  This will give me time to grade everything and get it in the report card program in time.  Please send me a notification on Schoology or by email is your student turns in late work or redoes an assignment. 

DO NOT just send me a note saying my child is done with everything.  Schoology does not notify me if an assignment has been redone, so I have no idea which assignments to regrade and it will not be regraded if I am not given the name of the assignments.  Please remember if you do NOT share a last name with your child you need to tell me your child’s name also.  

I had a conference with each child today and told them what was missing and what needed to be turned in to improve their grades.  I removed the missing work folder.  All student grades and missing assignments can be found under grades in Schoology.  Grades can be found in the top green bar in Schoology.

I will meet with Group B at an 9:40 AM in school,: Adam, Leah, Celine, Ali, Cece, Amreen, Sara N. Sara S, Lylah, Ellie.

K-2 and older siblings will enter in front at door 18. The 3rd-5th grades will use door 12 which is at the top of the wheelchair ramp by the gym. At dismissal (2:20) older siblings should exit with their K-2 siblings. If you have no younger siblings you will be dismissed (2:20) at door 12, to your families.

 Students should bring a backpack with the following:

* Learn Math Book

* Practice Math Book

*Handwriting book

*All science papers that were sent home, all reading books.

* Making Decisions Benchmark magazine (if they have it, otherwise I will give them one when they get here)

* reusable water bottle (our drinking fountain is closed)

* a healthy snack(no chips, cookies or candy) 

* a lunch (unless your child is ordering a hot lunch)- March 8 & 9: Cheese Nachos or Veggie Wrap

*Towel for sitting on the floor.

* Students should also wear a coat. We will be going outside for recess if the weather allows. If the temperature is below 20 degrees, we will stay in. 

Students may not bring toys to school. 

Students do not need to bring supplies. The school has purchased glue, crayons, pencils, colored pencils, etc for each child. I have everything for you in the classroom!:)

Please bring all books and papers back to school all other supplies will be provided here. Keep your other supplies (white boards, computers, school supplies) at home for virtual days. Please send a bath towel in for sitting on the floor during small group times, we may also use these when it is warmer for outdoor learning.

Specials will all be on Virtual days – we will have double specials this week and the end of next week, due to the virtual days and while the lower elementary transitions to hybrid and we transition in to the new schedule.

PTA Meeting – Thursday, March 4th – 4 PM – I will post a Zoom link as soon as I get one.

Mindful Mondays will be at a new time, day and new teacher. We are trying to figure out where it will fit in the schedule.
