12/2 – Firefigher will visit the 3rd grade to discuss fire safety and other safety issures.
12/14 3rd grade field trip to the Fire Station Smoke house to learn more about fire safety.
MobyMax practice – Please have your child practice with MobyMax for 20 minutes – 5 minutes on each of the following Fact Fluency, Math, Language, Vocabulary. If you have an IRIP contract practice Foundational reading also.

Academics – We have begun Unit 3 in ELA called Government and People. We will be writing an informational essay in class about a person who changed the world. Students have picked their topic and are beginning to take notes. In Social Studies we have started our Government Unit. In Math we have begun Unit 3 Multiplication and Division with Units 0, 1, and 6-10.

Yearbook – Our school picture company no longer has a Yearbook department, they will print it for us if someone takes group shots and coordinates the set up. If you are interested in helping with this project please let me know.
Spelling Bee – We will be conducting several spelling bees over the next couple of weeks and picking one winner per grade to compete against the rest of the city.
A reminder that Friday, November 5th is Popcorn Day! Bring a dollar ($1) to purchase a bag of popcorn! Thank you for supporting your school! Enjoy the Half Day!! 12:05 Dismissal!

Parent – Teacher Conference – Begin on November 4th, parents will get the report card, test results and can discuss any questions or concerns. Due to Covid and having to close the building for a week we are encouraging virtual conferences. I have changed them all to virtual on the sign up list. If you need to have an in-person conference for some reason please feel free to indicate that on the sign up form Please check your time on the sign up form ( the link is in the previous sentence). On the 4th I am meeting with Adam, Jules, Meral, Ali A, Semaj, Mia, Ali G, and Lev.

Get to know Schoology and the Blog – I invite you to spend some time looking around your Schoology account. You will find most questions that you email me can be found on Schoology. I have recently updated the spelling page. You can find all the spelling words for the current marking period with the dates of the test on each Friday. On the This Week Work page you can see everything due for the current week (this is updated over the weekend so is not updated yet). There are math games, videos and flash cards to practice multiplication facts. The student magazines are up there. The links to the science videos are up there. I have been told they might eventually take away the blog so I am trying to transfer everything to Schoology. I try my best to make everything you could possibly need available to you.
Academics – We will be taking the End of Module Unit 2 Math test around November 10th. I have opened up the practice test on Schoology. Students have 10 tries to see how they do. We will discuss the answers in class on November 9th. In Science we are on Mystery 3 Can you Outrun a Dinosaur? We will find out if we can on Monday! We are on week 3 of Ways Characters Change Stories. Our spelling words this week are Unit 2 Week 3 compound words. The Grammar and Spelling Pamphlet will go home on Monday.
