Recorder Money – due tomorrow 11/28 – each student needs to purchase a recorder. They will all be playing them in the spring concert. They are $6. If you need financial assistance with the price contact Mrs. Reed.

Howe School Spelling Bee – December 5th and 7th – 3rd Grade Spelling Bee Practice List

Hadi – Will continue to be Star of the Week

Math – We will begin Unit 3 – Multiplication and Division with Units of 0, 1, 6–9, and Multiples of 10. This week should be:

Monday – Lesson 1 Must Do Problems: 1(b), 2, 3(a), 3(g)

Tuesday-Lesson 2 Learn Must Do Problems: 1–3

Wednesday-Lesson 3 Must Do Problems: 1, 3 and Topic A quiz

Thursday-Lesson 4  – Must Do Problems: 1, 4–5

Friday-Lesson 5 – Must Do Problems: 2, 4

Science – We will we working on Life Cycles this week to transition into our Plants and Heredity unit.

Social Studies – we will continue our Government unit.

ELA – We will continue Unit 3 Week 3 – Government for the People – spelling words are closed syllable patterns. We will finish our Benchmark Magazine and Grammar and Spelling Pamphlet.

Book Reveal and Gingerbread house making party – our books will arrive soon and I would like to get together to celebrate our accomplishment of being published authors. I also have a tradition of making Gingerbread houses with my class each year. We will do this as one party. Both parties will be on December 19th. At 2pm we will do Gingerbread houses and at 3:15 we will do the book reveal party. Here is the SignupGenius to help with the supplies for the gingerbread houses.

Green Team Sale December 6th– The Green Teamers made spinning tops and baked goods that will be on sale after school on December 6th at 3:45-4:15.

Lansing trip today

Today is the big day! We are heading to Lansing! Please wear your red Howe school shirt or just red. Please pack a lunch and 2 snacks. Chaperones check in with your teacher so we know you are here and then wait in the cafeteria. If you bring money for the gift shop, bring no more than $10 in an envelope or zip lock bag with your name, school and teacher’s name written on it. If you need to reach me text me in Class Dojo.

Class News

Monday – Field trip to Lansing

*Please pack a lunch and 2 snacks.

*Wear a red Howe t-shirt or just red.

*Chaperones will please check in with your child’s teacher so that we know you are here. Then wait in the cafeteria.

*There are 2 busses – 1 for Polster and 1 for Keebler. The Davis students are split between the 2 buses.

*The bus should arrive at 9 AM, there is plenty of room for all students and chaperones to ride the bus. It is best if everyone rides the bus so that we all arrive at the same time and can start our tour right away.

*If you CANNOT chaperone for some reason, please let us know ASAP preferable the night before at the lastest, so that we can rearrange the groups.

Below is the list of chaperones, the students that are in your group and which of the two busses you will be riding on.

M2 Math test grades are now posted on Parent Connect. If you forgot your username and password, just click the button that states you forgot and it will send the information to your email that is on file with the district.

Recorder orders due by 11/28/22 – All students should order a recorder since they will be all playing then in the Spring Concert. Here is a link to the letter and form

Tuesday 11/22 – Will be make up work day, pen pal letter day and with any extra time we will have a board game day. Students may bring board games. No electronics!

Wednesday 11/23-Sunday 11/27 – No school – Thanksgiving Break

Today is the last day to order the classbook

I’m putting the finishing touches on the book today. When I hit submit, then you can no longer do pre-orders. This is the cheapest way to buy the book. You can order the book for up to 4 years after that by using to code on the book, however you don’t get the discounted price and have to pay shipping.

Howe School Spelling Bee

Howe School Spelling Bee

Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders will be competing in a school-wide spelling bee on Monday December 5th, we will continue on December 7th if we are not finished on the 5th.  There will be a winner and runner up for each grade level.  

The winners of the school-wide spelling bee will then go on to compete in the District-Wide spelling bee on February 2nd.  They could even go on to the National Spelling Bee!

Students should be practiced with their Benchmark Spelling words.  When practicing at home please ask your student to repeat the word they are about to spell before they spell it.  Watch last year’s winner of the National Spelling Bee to see how it is done.

This Week’s News

Unit 2 Math test – We will take our unit 2 math test on Wednesday. The study guide is in Schoology. Here is the link. We will be working on it in class, but you can also practice at home.

Parent/Teacher Conferences – our last day of Parent-Teacher conferences are on Wednesday night. I will send Class Dojo messages with the times by tomorrow.

Book publishing -Your students are almost published authors!! We are publishing our book on Friday. If you want to buy a copy, you can order it online until Thursday. After that it can be ordered after we receive the books by using the code on the back of the book. You will have to pay shipping. Here is the code to order the book.

Lansing Trip – Next week we will be going to Lansing to the Capital and historical museum. Students will need to have lunch and 2 snacks. We will be riding in the bus. We will be gone all day. Students should wear their red Howe school t-shirt or other red shirt.

Thanksgiving Break – There will be no school on November 23-27 for Thanksgiving break.

Class Book Order Deadline 11/17

We are in the final days of completing, Mrs. Keebler’s Class of Amazing Animals, our book that we are publishing. The kids, Ms. Hmayed (the art teacher) and I have been working hard to meet our deadline and the book is starting to look great! We are all very excited!! I just talked to our publishing company today and the DEADLINE for pre-orders is this Thursday, 11/17/22. You will still be able to order the book for up to 4 years after the publication date but you will have to pay the shipping fee. There is a coupon if you order online for a small discount. The books should arrive before the holiday break in case you would like to use it as a gift for family members. Being a published author is a big deal for anyone and a huge deal for a 3rd grader! Pre-Conference Questionnaire

Parent Teacher Conferences start next week – November 7th 10th and 16th, in the evenings. Report cards and test scores will be passed out. Here is the sign up list if you need your time or need to make a change.
