It is hard to believe, but we have reached the final week of school. To celebrate, we will have a spirit week and some special activities:

June 15th, Thursday – Spirit Day Theme: Summer Break Here We Come! Wear your sunglasses, sun hats, and summer attire (No swimwear or flip flops)

We are looking forward to a fun last week of school!
Humphry Book – We are doing another round of One School, One Book – all students got their books today. We hope that you will enjoy and read as a family. There are questions to answer for each chapter. When they return the packet in the fall they get a prize!
Handwriting books – I have sent all the handwriting books home today. If students return an a nicely completed book in the fall they get a prize.
Math Books – We have a few topics left in the last chapter of our math books. Please complete this over the summer and return the completed books for a prize.
Engineering Paper Bridges
Yesterday we designed and created bridges made entirely of paper and a stack of books. The kids then tested their strength by putting pennies on top. Our strongest paper bridge held over 1000 pennies!!! This is the most pennies any class has ever gotten. The kids had a lot of fun being engineers!! Here are the pictures:
Class News
We are getting very close to the end of the year. All library books are due by Wednesday. Papers were sent home on Friday for those who didn’t return their books yet. All book bags and class books need to be returned.
Academics –
Math – we will be finished lesson 14, and 15. Then taking the Topic C quiz on perimeter this week.
Science – We will continue to work in Force and Motion. We will do Mystery 2 and 4. We will take the Force and Motion test on Thursday/Friday. Here is a study guide if you would like to study for the test.
ELA – We will work on Unit 10 Week 2 Pamphlet, our spelling words are suffixes ending -ing, -ness, -ment.
Grades due by this week, so all work need to be turned in by Wednesday.

Science Mystery
If you left school early here is your science lesson that you missed. We completed up to slide 9. We will finish slides 10-19 tomorrow.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend
Long weekend – I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. School will resume on Tuesday.
Academics next week –
ELA – We will begin our last Benchmark unit 10 Force and Motion. We will do the U10 W1 Pamphlet. We will have the spelling test on the spelling skill of final syllables -en, -on, ain, -in on Friday. Words are on the pamphlet. Please practice them at home.
Math – We have completed topic A in Unit 7. We are working on Topic B Lesson 5-8 Attributes of 2 dimensional figures and take the Topic B quiz on Friday.
Social Studies – we finished our Economics unit last week and took the test. The grades will be posted on Parent Connect soon.
Science – We are moving into our last unit called Force and Motion. We will try to complete the Anchor lesson and Mystery 1 this week.

This Wednesday will be our last Music Club meeting for this school year. I plan to have a pizza party.

Short Week – Next week is a short week with no school on Friday 5/26 or Monday 5/29 for Memorial Day.
NWEA testing – About 1/2 the class finished their NWEA testing on Friday. We will continue to test on Monday. Please remind your students to try to do their very best. Make sure they are well rested and eat a good protein breakfast.
Montessori Night – You are all invited to come to our Montessori Night. You learn more about Montessori and see some of the activities we do. You will also have activities to do in gym, music and art. There will be refreshments in the cafeteria.
*Please pick up your child by 3:55 pm still! Teachers need time to set up so we will let you in at 4:15pm from Door 18 (our office doors).
*You can mingle on the playground while you wait.
*Please try and arrive early so that you have time to see everything you need to! (gym, art, and music will also be open)
*Reminder if you have siblings you will need to space your time between all the rooms you need to visit.
*We can’t wait to see you Monday after school.
Academics –
ELA – We will be completing our Benchmark Unit 9 Week 3 brochure and Magazine. We will have our spelling test on Thursday.
Math – We will finish lesson 3 in Topic A on Word problems and take the Topic A quiz. We will work on Lessons 4-6 in Topic B Attributes of polygons.
Social Studies – we will continue our unit on Economics.

5/18 Tomorrow Spring Concert 1:30 – Parents welcome, in the gym
5/19 Science Fair – 3:30 – Parents welcome, in the cafeteria. All parents in 3-5 grades need to come in to pick up their child, view the fair and departe at 3:50 with your children and their project.
5/22 Montessori Night 4:15-5:00- Parents welcome – pick up at 3:55, wait on the playground for teachers to set up. We will open the doors at 4:15. You will be visiting your children’s classroom, gym, art and music.
