Black History and Alternative energy fair tomorrow 4/4 4:00-5:00
Please remember everyone in 3rd -5th will be dismissed from the cafeteria. Please park in the back parking lot so you do not disrupt the lower elementary dismissal. K-2 Siblings will be waiting at the back door with Mrs Polster. Come to the back door, collect your younger children and then proceed to the cafeteria to enjoy the fair, when you are done looking at the fair, please check out with your student’s teacher before you leave. Please take your lap books and alternative energy posters home, when you leave. You don’t have to stay until 5 pm, you may leave whenever you want to.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their spring break. We will begin school again on Monday 4/1.
Star of the Week – Sullivan will continue to be Star of the Week and Jude will begin on 4/8.
Spring Testing – Spring testing will begin soon after we return from break, I have added the dates to our blog calendar.
MSTEP – We will begin MSTEP testing on Mondays and Wednesdays starting April 22nd
iReady – We will begin iReady testing on Mondays and Wednesdays starting May 6th
Preparing for the test – to prepare for the test students should continue to do their iReady practice for a minimum of 10-15 minutes per subject per day. This will help prepare them for both tests. Students will get prizes for completing a minimum of 45 minutes a week in each subject.
MSTEP practice – When we return we will also begin the MSTEP practice test. If you are interested in having them get a head start over break you can find the practice test here. Click on Sample Items, pick a the grade and subject, then the login information is printed above the login box.
Black History and Alternative Energy Fair – April 4th 4 PM – 5 PM – Please join us for to hear our students present their Black History Biography reports, and see the Green Team poster boards on Alternative Energy. I sent everyone’s the lapbooks home on Friday so that students can practice reading them outload so they are ready to present. Some students need to finish their projects and some need to clean up some mistakes or things the might look sloppy. PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR STUDENT’S LAPBOOK TO MAKE SURE IT IS COMPLETE AND READY TO PRESENT. Please return your projects on Monday so they can be graded and we can practice before the fair. Star of the Week is Sullivan
Reading Logs due TODAY! – Don’t forget to bring in your reading log for a prize and to help us earn a PIZZA party! The class with the most participation gets a pizza party.
Book Fair – Flyers were sent home last week for this week’s book fair. Preview Day will be today, students will make a wish list, they will bring the wish list home to review. Shopping day is tomorrow, when you send in money don’t forget the 6% tax. Please place money in a plastic bag or envelope with your child’s name. There is a separate donation envelope if you would like to donate books to the classroom. Parents can come in on Tuesday from 2:25-4:00
Field Trip – Kensington Nature Center and Farm – May 31st – We have planned an all day field trip to the Kensington Metro park in May. The trip will cost $14. Permissions slips and money are due by Friday, March 22th.
Spring Break begins at the end of school on Friday 3/22. We return to school on Monday, April 1st. (No joke!)

This Week’s News 3/11
Ramadan Mubarak! – to everyone who is participating in Ramadan. Please remember if your child is interested in fasting that the must have a permission slip form from you. Here is the fasting permission slip again if you don’t have the one we sent home.
Here is a library of books about Ramadan for anyone who is interested.
Reading Logs due tomorrow: Please remember to fill out, sign and return the reading logs tomorrow morning. Students will get a prize each week and we are working to earn a pizza party for the class who participates the most!
Library Card applications: were sent out last week. A library card gives your child access to thousands of books, videos, and games. The library also has computers, printers and much more. If you complete your applications at home and return them to school, the library will bring your child’s new library card to school when they visit on April 24th.
Black History & Alternative Energy Fair date change:
The Upper Elementary Black History and Alternative Energy Fair
Location: Cafeteria Thursday, April 4th
PreK-2nd 2:00-2:45 Parents 4:00-5:00
Due to traffic issues on early release days, we have decided to move the fair to a new date.
Please join us on 4/4 to see the Lapbooks that 3rd – 5th graders created on some famous people in Black History. The Green Team will also have projects they created on different types of alternative energy. Parents will park in the back parking lot and come inside to see the fair and pick up their child inside. Students in 3rd-5th will not be dismissed outside that day.
WIDA Testing will continue this week so we may not get to all of our lessons again.

Monday – Topic A quiz – review lessons 1-5 – using the online Eureka math book found on Clever. This link may bring you there, it works for me. Your child will need to login with their Chromebook username and password.
