Social Studies Quiz Redo – Some students need to redo their Unit 4 Lesson 2 Quiz on Lumbering.  They can find information about this in their Growth of Michigan Student Book on Google Classroom in the About section.  They need to know the information on pages 18-24 and be able to do the quiz on pages 23-24.  You will know if the need to do a redo by looking at Parent Connect.  If there is not a score for the quiz then they need to study.  I will postpone the Lesson 3 Quiz on Mining until Monday but the kids can still study for it.

Don’t forget all missing assignments are due by tomorrow.

Don’t forget to wear green tomorrow.

Mahara journal – from now on all Mahara entries must include the week number in the title.  This is especially important for those who are turning in their work late.  I need know which week you are turning in the work for.  So the title must now include the book title, author and week number.   The journal must include  at least one DOK question and answer.  I expect 3-5 sentences per entry and 5 entries a week.  I would like every student to do at least one Mahara journal entry a week.

Marking Period ends tomorrow (Friday 3/16) – all missing work must be completed and turned in by tomorrow.  Please check Parent Connect for missing work, I have put a zero for the grade on missing assignments so that you can see what their grade will be without them.  When using Parent Connect make sure that you click the “Show All Assignments” button at the top.  Otherwise you only see a few assignments.

Field Trip Next Friday 2/23 – I’m still missing a couple of slips for 9 and 13.  Michigan Science Center 9:00-2:30 Make sure to wear a red t-shirt or your school shirt.  Be sure to pack a lunch.

Spring Pictures – Friday 2/23 – Spring pictures are the same day as our trip.  We are scheduled for 8:45 AM pictures.  If your child is wearing a different outfit for the pictures please send the red t-shirt or school shirt to put over their outfit for the trip.

Book Fair – March 20 (set up) March 21-23 – Volunteers needed

Please consider signing up for our book fair.  We are currently in need of parents on preview day and to help break down the fair.  Use this link  to sign up to volunteer.

Social studies quiz tomorrow – they may view the quiz and the material to study in the Unit 4 Growth of Michigan Student book on Google Classroom in the About section.

Marking Period Ends on Friday, March 16th – All missing work needs to be turned in by the end of the day on Friday.

Missing work – I have made all missing assignments a zero so that you are able to see what their grade will be if the missing work is not returned.  Missing work GREATLY affects their grade!    I will accept all missing work even if it has a zero until Friday.

Here is some information I was asked to share with you:

Wait for it! Impact Award Nomination Forms Available Soon

Examples of staff members who are eligible include Principals, Para-pros, Custodians, Bus Drivers, Food Service Staff, Social Workers, Carpenters, Skilled Trade, Computer Technicians, or anyone who is not a classroom teacher but works for the Dearborn Public Schools.

District employees eligible for the Impact Award include full or part time staff members employed with the Dearborn Public Schools for more than three years.

Nomination forms with a complete list of qualifications will be available soon.  Four winners will be announced on May 22 at the Dearborn Education Foundation’s Green Tie Dinner.

Social Studies Quiz tomorrow – student got a study guide to complete as homework today.  If they need help completing the paper they may use their student book on Google Classroom Google Classroom Unit 4 Student book

Michigan Science Center Field Trip slips were due today – I’m still missing slips from number 9, 13, 19, 20.  I would like to remind everyone that if  you would like to chaperone you need to have your paper complete with the office ASAP.  It takes a couple of weeks to process them.  Also I would like to remind everyone that it is a school rule that no siblings are allowed on school field trips.   Just a reminder please pack a lunch and wear red or a school t-shirt that day.  The trip is March 23 9am-2:30pm.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – I will be sending invitations for conferences soon.  In the spring they only give us one day to conference instead of 3 days like in the fall.  So I don’t usually meet with every parent.  However, if you do not get an invitation and you have something that you need to talk about, please contact me with your concern and I will email you to set up a conference time.  I’m happy to talk with any parent that needs to talk.

Happy Snow Day

Brainstormers Story – I have had a couple of parents ask about our Brainstormers story assignment.  They are supposed to write a fictional story or personal narrative to turn in to the Brainstormers production company.  They will be taking our stories and acting them out with our students helping as some of the actors.  It is a lot of fun!

They should have already completed  a graphic organizer.   The story should include characters (including a description), setting (where and when), activity the characters are doing, problem, solution,  title and author.    They should have already complete the rough draft in the ELA journals, if they have not finished this in writing they are welcome to type it.  They are then supposed to type the final in a Google Doc and share it with me.   They are allowed to add a picture if they choose.  Below is the Graphic Organizer used during the assembly by the Brainstormers.
Spelling test – Please make sure your student completes their spelling test online today.
Missing work – Please check parent connect for missing assignments.  Our marking period is over on March 16th and all missing work is due by March 15th.
