I have added a new video to the blog.  It explains where to find assignments that are attached to Parent Connect.  This should make it easier to find and print a missing assignment your child needs to complete if they were absent or lost their paper.  Here is the video.  It is also in a new tab called Tech Tips.  If there are other videos you would like for me to make explaining anything with our technology we use, please let me know.

Topic A Math Quiz – The score for the Topic A math quiz are going to in the computer today.

Unit 3 Social Studies test  – Monday 2/4– The study guide went home today for a test we will take on Monday.  If your student was absent or left early here is the study guide.  If you don’t have a printer please have them answer the question on a piece of paper and quiz them on the back.

Star of the Week next week is Adam.  Avelio will be star of the week when we return from mid-winter break on 2/19 until 3/1 since it is not a full week.

Hi Everyone,

As you know there will be no school on Wednesday and possibly Thursday due to the extreme cold.  I hope everyone enjoys your time off.  Please stay safe and warm.   Here are a few reminders:

• Week 18 Reading logs are still due Wednesday night at 8 PM.
• Please complete all spelling activities at home that you did not complete in class and be ready for a test on Friday.
• Study guides were passed out today for the Topic A test.  We will do the test at the end of lesson 3.  Student should have lesson 2 homework today.
• Students should have completed the Contraction Bingo quiz and the Synonym and Antonyms quiz this week.
• I will now be attaching assignments directly to Parent Connect.  If you see your student is missing the work on Parent Connect, then you should be able to click on the underlined link to print the missing assignment at home.   Tomorrow I will be grading the above assignments and attach the papers needed to complete anything missing.

NWEA testing  – We will be finishing our make – ups this week.  Make sure your students are well rested and have a good breakfast.

School closings possible– with the frigid, sub-zero weather coming up we have the possibility of some school closing days this week.  You should get a robo call if we are closed.  Or you can watch the news or click here for updates on school closings.

Star of the Week – will still be Mariam N since she only got a 2 1/2 day week last week.    Adam will be the star of the week, starting the week of 2/3 (Happy Birthday to me).

Math Quiz on Tuesday – We will have a quiz on Module 3 Topic A on Tuesday.  Here is the Topic A study guide.  I will print it on Monday for anyone who has not already printed it.  It will be due Tuesday and we will review the answers and take the quiz the same day.

Finding Missing Work papers –  I will now be attaching the work needed to complete some of these assignment right to Parent Connect.  You will see an underlined  link that will take you too the necessary work that you may print at home.  I will attach as many as possible.  This will hopefully make it easier to find missing work.

Ice Day – I hope everyone stay warm and safe on our ice day off of school.

NWEA testing – we will be finishing our NWEA testing tomorrow.

Don’t forget – Week 17 Reading logs are due today.  Please make sure your student has completed all of the Week 17 spelling activities for the test on Friday.

Academic Goal – Please have the students complete a new goal for this marking period on Google classroom.

Math test – I have posted the scores of the Module 2 End-of-Unit assessment.  There are a few kids that should study tonight to try to improve their score tomorrow.  Please check Parent Connect to see if your student needs to study.

Popcorn Sale tomorrow – send in the little envelope that was sent home today with a $1 if they want to buy popcorn.  There were be no reward popcorn because of the 1/2 day.

Math Study Guides  and Tests this week.– I have changes the name of the Eureka tab on my blog to Eureka Homework and Study Guides.  I have added two study guides for our upcoming quiz and test on Topic E and Module 2.  These test will be on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  I will print they study guides for any students who do not print them at home.

1/2 day of Friday dismissal at 11:45 for the End of Marking period – I would like to have all missing work by Wednesday if possible.  But I will accept it until Friday is needed.  Anything not turned in by Friday will be a zero.

Welcome Back – Our vacation is almost over.  I hope everyone had a restful holiday with their families.  I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

NWEA testing – We will begin our NWEA testing again when we return to school.  We will be practicing with lessons in class and MobyMax to prepare for our testing.  Hopefully, your student will be able to spend some time on Moby Max to practice for the test before our Moby Max Contest end on 1/12/19.  To ensure that your child does well on the NWEA, please make sure your student has plenty of rest and a good breakfast for the next few weeks as we are testing.

Topic D Math Test on Thursday 1/10 –  Here is a link to the study guide.  We will learning the rest of the lessons for the test when we return to school next week.

Moby Max Vacation Contest – Congratulations to all of the students who used their vacation time to continue to learn!    Congratulations to number 18, 1, 13, 9, 2, 15, 7, 16, 6 for all working on Moby Max on the vacation.  Currently the student leading the contest are 18, 9, 1, 2 and 15!  Great job!  The contest will continue until January 12th.  Everyone has the chance of winning a prize if they try.

Merry Christmas everyone!  Thank you so much to everyone for all of the wonderful presents.  Hopefully, you all got my little thank you cards.  You are all so generous!  I hope everyone has a wonderful relaxing holiday season and a Happy New Year!

I have started a new Moby Max contest.  This is a great way to keep learning through the holidays and to help prepare for the upcoming NWEA assessment.  The contest starts today and goes through January 11th.

It’s Pajama Day on Friday, December 21! –The Howe Girl Scouts are collecting new pajamas and books. We would greatly appreciate if your child could bring a pair of NEW pajamas or a book on December 21, the last day of school. All items donated will go to children in need. We hope you will be able to donate!  Students may bring a stuffed animal for PJ day.  We will have a reading PJ party!

Winter Break – December 22-January 6th – School resumes Monday January 7, 2019
