Weekly Update

Rida will be Star of the Week since we were virtual last week. Christian will begin his Star of the Week on 10/25.

Return to In-Person Learning

Please return all materials – Please tell your students to gather all materials, books, clock and paper and any computers borrowed this week and return everything to the school. All Benchmark packets, pamphlets and magazine should be completed and returned this week.

On Monday, October 18 we will return to in-person learning. To keep us healthy and in school, we need the support of our families to complete COVID SCREENER EVERYDAY! Here is the link the daily covid screener every monrbefore bringing or sending your child to school . Our staff also screens themselves daily before entering the school building. If you are ever unsure, it is better to keep them out and have them tested before returning to school. If you see ANY of these symptoms, please use care: COUGH, fever, shortness of breath, upset stomach, headaches, runny nose, congestion, and/or body aches are all symptoms that should be taken seriously.

Free rapid tests are available daily in the district at the following locations:

Salina Intermediate: Monday -Thursday 7:00am-8:00pm and 3:30 pm-4:30 pm .

Fordson High: Monday – Thursday from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. AND 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Edsel Ford High: Monday – Thursday from 6:40 a.m. – 7:40 a.m. AND 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Dearborn High: Monday – Thursday from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

For any students who are sent home during the school day with developing symptoms, a test continues to be required for re-entry into school. No exceptions. Likewise, if your child is identified as a close contact and is required to quarantine, all guidelines provided by the principal or covid nurses must be completed prior to return. It is critical that you notify the school if your child tests positive so that we can complete contact tracing. Please know that a person with covid can be contagious for a couple of days prior to the onset of symptoms. All of these measures are important to keep our school healthy and keep us in school. If you have questions please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Fournier at 313-827-7004.

Keebler Parent Teacher Conferences

Academics – We finished up our Animal Adaptations Unit and this magazine should have pages 11, 19 and 27 completed and turned in on Monday along with all the spelling and grammar pamphlets. We are starting our new unit in ELA called Ways Characters Shapes Stories. Students will continue to work on their Animal Research Notes which are due by 10/25 and then complete their Google Slide Animal Project by 10/29. In math are working on a measurement unit, we had a small unit on time, now we are working measuring weight and volume. We will have a mid-module test after Lesson 11 on 10/25. In Science we continue to study Animals Through Time, and taking a quiz on Mysteries 1-3 at the end of the week.

Marking Period and Report Cards – Our marking period will be ending on 10/29. Please make sure your student is up to day will all assignment by following this link to Parent Connect. If you don’t remember your information click the button below the log in and it will help you get what you need to log in.

Please make sure you review the different sections of my blog so that you understand the classroom policies and procedures. If you have not read my blog, here is the section about completed papers and understanding grading:

Completed papers – How do you know when a paper is completed and can be recycled? I suggest having a place at home to keep finished paper until the marking period ends. Once the marking period is over, those papers can be recycled. If you keep the papers and then one is missing in the grade book, all you need to do is turn it in again. Otherwise, your student will need to do the assignments again.

Understanding the writing on a paper – When there is a has a check in the upper right hand corner then this paper has been recorded in the grade book as a report card grade. If your student gets a score less than 80% then I will usually ask them to redo it, to try to raise their grade. If there is a check in the left corner then I have looked at the paper, but it is one that doesn’t count toward the report card.

A number 1-4 in a circle is the grade:

100%-95% is a 1

94%-80% is a 2

79%-70% is a 3

69%-0% is a 4
