Missing Assignments

I wanted to remind everyone that missing assignments, scores and grades can all be seen on Parent Connect. You can access Parent Connect from the district website. Just click the button that says Parent Connect. If you forgot your password, say forgot password and it will send you a link to change it to the email that you have listed with Dearborn Public Schools.

Reminders

  • Don’t forget EARLY RELEASE on every TUESDAY pick up at 2:25
  • 1/2 day Friday, 10/27 pick up at 12:05
  • Trunk or Treat – Friday 10/27 at 6 PM in the back parking lot. Trunks still needed. Dress in costume.
  • Smoke House Field trip Monday, 10/30 – make sure your permission slip is turned in. I am still missing 2.
  • Picture Day Monday 10/30, please complete your picture forms online or use the one sent home.
  • 10/31 Fall Festival in class – students may wear fall colors, NO COSTUMES, students may bring a small amount of candy to pass.

What is an i-Ready pathway?

i-Ready My Path is now available! My Path instruction provides online lessons that motivate students on their paths to proficiency and growth. Each student’s personalized pathway is based on their performance on the i-Ready Diagnostic in order to meet students where they are in their learning journey! Students will be encouraged to use their iReady Pathways at home and at school! It should be something that they enjoy and it will help increase their skills and test scores on the next iReady test! Students will earn prizes for completing their iReady at home, so they can start playing today!! Just go to iReady in Clever and get started.

Academics

Math – In math we have finish Module 1 on Multiplication and Division and we are now in Module 2 called Place Value Concepts Through Metric Measurement. We are almost done with Topic A and will have the Topic A quiz on Tuesday. Here is this week’s homework:

Here are the answers. Please remember these are for you to help your child to understand how to do the problem. Not to just show them the correct answers. If they can’t do it on the study guide, they will not be able to do it on the test. If they still don’t understand after you explain it, please write me a note so I can explain it again. Topic A Study Guide Answers. PLEASE RETURN THE COMPLETED STUDY GUIDE. I will be checking for understanding before we take our quiz on Tuesday.

ELA – We are beginning Unit 2 Week 2 in our How Characters Shape Stories Benchmark magazine. We will completing page 19 in our book and working on our Unit 2 Week 2 Pamphlet in school. The spelling words focus on Long I, here is the spelling practice for the week we will do ABC order and vowels and consonant work in class. You are welcome to print the others and practice at home. U2 W2 Spelling practice The Grammar focuses on Irregular Past Tense Verbs.

Social Studies – we will finish up our Geography unit this week.

Hassan Atwi – Star of the Week starting Monday 10/17 –

Star of the Week

Star of the Week – Next week October 2nd we will begin Star of the Week – Hassan Almousawi will be our first “Star”. We will go in number order.

Star of the Week Poster – Before your week starts make a poster board filled will pictures of your child’s life.  We want to see babyhood to the present.   Show us hobbies, family, pets, etc.

Star of the Week Schedule -find your Student’s week on the calendar: The Calendar. Since we have a small class we will each get about 2 weeks.

Each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our special classmate.

Line leader – your child will lead our line where ever we travel this week.

Get to choose our GoNoodle break songs.

Monday: Sharing and Poster of pictures: Please help your child collect a few special items from home , and send it back to school with your child on Monday to share with his or her classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose items that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys. Also, please have your child decorate a poster board with pictures of him or herself from babyhood to the present. If you did a poster last year, you may use the same one, and add new pictures if you’d like. We’ll display the poster in a place of honor on our class bulletin board.

*Tuesday: Star of the Week crown – Your student will get a special crown to show they are the star this week.

*Wednesday: Parent Letter: Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the class at class meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character. You may also send a special video for the class to watch if you choose. (Sometimes parents have taped messages or choose to send in a funny baby video for the class to see.)

*Thursday – Favorite Book: Your star student brings one of his or her favorite picture books to read to the class (or have the teacher read to the class) at our class meeting.

*Friday – Star Friends Poster:  Your star student will be presented with a poster created by his or her classmates. The poster will include the Star’s picture, surrounded by compliments written by his or her classmates.

Fire Fighter Visit – We will have a firefighter visit our classroom on Tuesday 10/17 to talk about safety. This is in preparation for our Firehouse Field trip on October 30th. You will get a permission slip soon. This is an important trip for all 3rd grade students in Dearborn, they will learn about fire safety and what to do in a real fire.

Trunk or Treat is coming soon – October 27th 6 PM in our back parking lot.

End of Marking period – 10/27 is the last day of the marking period – 1/2 day dismissal at 12:05. All assignments due by Wednesday 10/25.

Weather Updates

The weather has changed from hot to chilly (sigh, it’s Michigan). Your child needs to be prepared to go outside.

  • CLOTHING GUIDELINES:
  • 50-60 degrees: Long sleeves
  • 40-50 degrees: Jacket or sweatshirt or coat
  • 30-40 degrees: Winter jacket, hat and mittens/gloves and covered legs (i.e tights, jeans, pants)
  • Below 30 and if snowy: Full set of snow gear to play in the snow (winter jacket, snow pants, hat, mittens, and boots)
  • December – March: Bring boots and shoes daily

This Week’s News

Star of the Week – will continue to be Hassan Almousawi. We will finish reading his favorite book, he will do sharing and continue to be line leader. Next week, Hassan Atwi will be the Star of the Week. He will make his poster of pictures about himself, his parents will right a letter about why he is so special to them.

Thursday Study Guide for test Friday. We will do the study guide in class on Thursday, send it home Thursday night to review and take the test Friday. Here are the answers if you would like to go over how they did.

Friday – Module 1 Test

ELA – This week we are continuing with Unit 1 Week 3 – in Benchmark Animal Adaptations. Here are the spelling words. We will complete the Unit 1 Week 3 pamphlet. We will continue to work on our poetry unit.

Science/Social Studies – This week we will be reviewing the vocabulary terms learned so far and taking quizzes on the words. Kids can study with the Blookets below. If time we will continue our science on Animals Traits.

Blookets – I have added more Blooket to the Blookets tab on the blog. This has math practice for our daily quizzes. And Social studies to review for our vocabulary quizzes that will begin this week. Here is a link to the Blooket Tab on the Blog. It is a fun way to prepare for the quizzes. I will add more as the year progresses.

This week’s news

Dear Parents,

This was quite a week for me. I went home sick on Monday, after a visit to the doctor and the hospital emergency room, it turns out I have an infection. I am starting to feel better but I am not completely recovered. Mrs. Salmassi is doing an awesome job of keeping up with everything. I miss everyone!

Child Care for Early Release and Study guide
