The pictures above are just some examples of clothing that the Aztecs wore.  The gods and the higher class the person was, the more elaborate the outfit.  For more examples please visit Pinterest or Google Aztec clothing and lots of pictures will come up.  No weapons please, just the outfit.  The play parts were distributed the other day.   Please research what your student part will look like.   If you have any questions about what they should wear please email me.

Aztec Projects due June 9th

The students have been learning about ancient Aztecs.   I have assigned an open-ended project about whatever topic they would like to present about the Aztecs.  They may present in whatever way they would like.  I will allow some class time to work on the project, but it will mostly be done at home. For example they could:

  • make a poster
  • a diorama
  • a mask
  • Aztec pyramid
  • a statue
  • a report
  • a movie
  • cook an Aztec meal

We will display our projects on June 9th the night of our Aztec/Inca/Mayan Cultural night.

Goslings were born

Hello Everyone,

This afternoon the geese’s eggs hatched.  We now have 4-5 goslings.  They are in the planter by the back door where the upper elementary does pick up and drop off.  Please remind your children to leave the geese alone and do not try to see the babies.  Adult geese are very protective of their babies and will do anything to protect their babies.   Tell the students that we will try to watch the babies from behind the glass.

I hope everyone enjoys your Mother’s Day!  The students all worked hard on writing poetry for Mom and you should all have received you sunflower.  They grow to be 12 feet tall so plan accordingly when planting them.

Cultural Play – Each year our school puts on a big cultural night at the end of the year.  This year we are going to be studying Ancient Inca, Mayan and Aztec people.  Students will be memorizing lines, and performing on stage.  We are hoping to 100% attendance and are counting on everyone to do their part in the performance.  The students and parents have always enjoyed these nights.  We have the performance and then share food together.  Please let me know as soon as possible if your student will be unable to attend for some reason and I will plan accordingly with the line assignments.  The date of our performance is June 9th in the evening.  I will post the exact times in the near future.  Within the next few weeks I will be sending information about costumes and lines.
