I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend and is staying warm!
Remember tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday 1/15 – No School
Manessa will continue to be Star of the Week – she will bring sharing, her favorite book, and a letter from her parents telling us what makes her so special to them. Her mom sent a fun video of Manessa to share. Next week, Youssef will be Star of the Week.
iReady Testing will begin on Tuesday when we return. Please make sure that your child is well rested and eats a good breakfast with protein not sugar. We will be testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be doing make ups for anyone who is absent or didn’t finish the rest of the week.
Mrs Bazzy – who is our IC (Instructional Coach), will be working in our classroom this marking period to give us assistance in ELA. I will be out a couple of days to take my mom to different doctors. Mrs. Bazzy and Mrs. Salmassi will be teaching the class.
Spelling Bee – We will be conducting our Howe School Spelling Bee on 1/24 in the PM and finish on 1/25 if necessary. The winner will go to the district spelling bee in March. Make sure your student studies their spelling words. Here is a link to the 3rd grade list.
Cold Weather Clothing – Student will go outside if Real feel temperatures are higher than 20 degrees. If students want to play in the snow they need snow pants, boots, mittens or gloves. Please make sure that students bring an extra pair of shoes so they are not tracking snow in to the classroom.
Academics –
Math – do to the iReady testing we will not be doing math on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday – Lesson 6 must do all and study guide. We will begin the study guide at school, they will finish it at home, I have posted the answers on my blog. Please don’t just show them the answers. Explain them please. RETURN the STUDY GUIDE on Friday. We will review the study guide before taking the quiz.

ELA – We are starting a new unit called Unit 5 Advancements in Technology. Unit 5 Week 1 – Spelling – Vowel Consonant E Syllables, Grammar – Coordinating Conjunctions Spelling practice
Science – We are learning about traits that are inherited and genes and “The Code”
