March is Reading Month

March Is Reading Month!

Howe School’s reading month theme this year will be

 “Books around the World”. 

Each classroom will:

  • Choose a book from a country – Our country is Kenya, our book is called Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain

  • Decorate the classroom door with your book theme and country (winner will get a party paid for by pta—ask parents to help) Doors should be DONE by Monday, March 2ndHELPERS STILL NEEDED – I have started the door but still need help tracing and coloring the animals and putting them on the door.
  • Host another class in your room once a week during March to read your classes’ book to the other class. (Teachers can arrange) 
  • Have a world map and color in the countries as you visit other rooms. 

Student Expectations

  • Students will read 20 minutes each night. 
  • Fill out reading passport and send in each Monday.  They will get a participation ticket if they do and be entered into the bike drawing (one girl, one boy, one special ed).  
  • If they lose their READING PASSPORT here is the link to print a new one.
