Class News and Pictures

on December 22, 2014

Thank you – I wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful presents for the classroom and for myself.  You have all been so generous and kind this year.  This is a truly amazing group of students and parents.  I am having a wonderful year.  I hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable holiday break.

Gingerbread House pictures –  Thank you to all the parents that donated items and volunteered their time to help out with this event.  I think everyone had a good time.  I have uploaded the pictures I took from the Gingerbread house making party.  If anyone else has pictures to share from that day or the Holiday concert please feel free to add them to the site so everyone can see.

January reading log – My printer has not been working so I was unable to send home the January Reading Log.  Here is a copy of it to print at home.  There is a front and a back side, they are on two separate sheets.   Don’t forget to return your December reading logs on Monday, January 5th.

Reading Log Strategies

Animal Sound Project –  Please have your student spend some time on their animal sound project over the holiday.  Please have them share their progress with me at keeblek@dearbornschools.org.  Here is the assignment sheet again:  Animal Sound Research Project

Book Room Project – We are working on getting our book room and science materials organized and we could use some parent helpers.  If you have some extra time and would be willing to help please let me know.  There are some things that could be done at home but most of it needs to be done at school.

3rd Grade Math Test – Everyone should have received their student’s Unit 4 math test.  Please sign and return it so I know that you have seen it.  There are a few students that will be doing a retake on this test on Monday, January 5th.  This test is a test on their abilities to use their multiplication fact families.  If they don’t know their multiplication facts yet this will be a difficult test for them.  It is VERY important that your student memorize their facts.  We work on these in school but it is necessary that they spent time on these at home in order for them to be memorized.  The memorization of these facts is something that will benefit them for the rest of their schooling and the rest of their lives.   PLEASE take the time to help your child memorize their facts!   V-Math is a great tool to practice their facts in the game center.  Or there are lots of games online to practice.  Here are a couple:
