Hello,
My name is Leah Polster and I have been teaching in Dearborn since 2001. I am proud to be a part of one of the best schools in the district and am excited to be your child’s teacher this year. My husband Mark and I live in Dearborn and we have two sons: Max (who is a college freshman) and John (who is in 10th grade). We have a dog, Duke, who is 7 years old (in November).
I have lived in Dearborn most of my life, I attended Duvall for 4th thru 6th grade, Stout Middle School, and Edsel Ford High School. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University, and then University of Michigan-Dearborn with a Master’s Degree. I have taught second thru fifth grade here at Howe School.
Outside of work I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, moving around – walking my dog, shopping, trying new restaurants and food, and traveling to new places. I love to garden, it’s how I spend my summers. I have discovered a new passion: butterfly farming. I raise monarchs and black swallowtail butterflies each summer.
I believe in a strong partnership between parent, teacher, and student. The best way to contact me, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns is via email. I check email in the morning and evening. As a parent, I understand the importance of communication and I have your child’s best interest at heart. My email is polstel@dearbornschools.org. If you do not have an email, please send a letter in with your child or call the office and I can call you back at the end of the day. Please sign up for my blog at your earliest convenience, I post class information and district information that is important for the school year.
I expect excellent behavior and teamwork with the children so your support at home will be most appreciated. I have attached the classroom information from the blog.
