Your child’s reading homework for this school year is to read for at least 10 minutes each night and complete their reading log. Reading logs will be passed out on Mondays and are due on Mondays. Please sign your child’s reading log each week. The questions for Monday -Thursday must be completed while the bonus box is optional. Reading logs will be checked Monday mornings and returned in Communication Folders. If your child would like to read and complete the bonus box over the weekend, they will receive a bookmark for their extra effort when they bring back their reading log on Monday! 4 Bonus boxes will receive a pencil.
Students may read any “just right“ fiction book of their choice. We have spent time discussing what makes a book just right including following the 5-finger rule. If you would like ideas for just right books for your child, go to http://www.scholastic.com/bookwizard.
Reading for at least 10 minutes every day is proven to be beneficial for children and fosters a reading habit that is sure to last a lifetime! Listen to your child read and encourage him/her, read with your child, and discuss the books as you read them. Remember that the only way to become a better reader is to READ!

Happy reading!
