Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone was able to spend some well-deserved family time together.

I understand that its hard to transition back to school after being off, but many of the students seemed tired today. Please help your child be more successful by setting and enforcing a bedtime (10-12 hours of sleep per night for 10 year olds). No electronics (or even remotes) in the bedroom at bedtime. They are not old enough to have the self control and need YOU to make sure they are getting enough sleep on a regular basis. It does have a huge impact on their ability to focus in school and regulate their emotions as well. Thanks in advance for your help!

The Lansing Trip on Thursday 1/9/20 – 8:30 AM – 4:00 ish PM – If you are a chaperone please arrive at 8:30, please sign in to the office, let me know that you have arrived and wait in the cafeteria. Please pack a morning and afternoon snack and lunch for your child. If you are sending money for the gift shop please do not send more than $20 and put it in a ziplock bag with your child’s name and the teacher’s name on the bag. Please wear your school t-shirt or a red shirt. Please remember you must have completed your chaperone paperwork in order to attend the trip. Keebler students will be in Group 1 and Polster and Davis students will be in group 2.

For your planning purposes: The card marking ends a week from this Friday with a 1/2 day on the 17th and no school on the 20th (MLK observed holiday). We will begin NWEA midyear testing in the next couple weeks also.

Dearborn Public Schools will be closed for the Winter Break from Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 to Friday, Jan. 03, 2020. Classes will resume on Monday, January 6th. Enjoy the break!

I gave each of your children a book, I tried to give each one a good fit book and to branch out their interest, remind them to read 20 pages before they give up on it. If they struggle, you could read the book together.

Be safe, have fun, and Happy Holidays to you!!

Reminders

Our next PTA meeting is this Thurs., Dec. 5 at 3:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. All parents are welcome! We will be discussing our upcoming events, including the Holiday Shop, Movie Night and LEGO club. We hope to see you on Thursday!

Our holiday shop is next week, Tuesday-Thursday.  If you could all please reblog the following link (if you haven’t already), that would be awesome.  We were very short staffed for the book fair, so the more help we have from you all to encourage parent volunteers, the easier it will be to make this event fun for the kids.
