Week of Monday, October 2nd

6th grade classes: On Monday and Tuesday, students will take the assessment on Spanish. The next two days, students will learn about German greetings. Page 1 will be assigned that day. On Friday, B day will meet and learn about German numbers. Page 2 will be homework for them. Please use Quizlet to study German greetings and numbers. The packet will be used to study vocabulary terms and culture.

7th & 8th grade Conversational Spanish: Students will learn the difference between singular and plural articles and nouns in Spanish. Notes that will be completed this week are 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. Jeopardy is planned for Friday. This unit is the shortest unit. The test will be next Monday, October 9th. All the notes will be posted on Google Classroom for any students that have been absent. Quizlet.com should be used the study as well. They are called: unidad 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. Culture is also posted on Google Classroom. Study all the material!

8th grade Yearlong: Students have taken 3 quizzes this card marking period. Any students that need to retake the quiz on Chapter 1 Grammar 1 will see me during lunch on Friday. They need to have flashcards created from class last week. Words are posted on Google Classroom. Permission must be granted by the parent and vocabulary must be studied daily in order to retake the assessment. The highest on a retake will be 80%. Make sure that students are still continuing to study on Quizlet.com. We will review numbers 1-31, learn about time, days & months, and the alphabet by taking notes and participating in a variety of activities. There will not be a quiz this week because the vocab 2 notes are longer in length. Please continue to be studying the notes. They are also posted on Google Classroom for anyone who has been absent in class.

Week of Monday, September 25th

6th grade classes: On Monday, A day will learn about culture in Spain and other interesting holidays in Spanish-speaking countries in the world. The next two days, students will learn about family and body vocabulary in Spanish. On Thursday and Friday, students will play Jeopardy in teams as a class to prepare for their Spanish assessment the following week. B day will have their test on Monday, October 2nd. A day will have their test on Tuesday, October 3rd. Packets will be turned in the day of the assessment. Please use Quizlet to study vocabulary terms and the packet to study culture.

7th & 8th grade Conversational Spanish: Students will complete a summative cartoon project on Monday. They will play Jeopardy in teams on Tuesday to prepare for the Bienvenidos assessment on Wednesday, September 27th. All the notes are posted on Google Classroom for any students that have been absent. Quizlet.com should be used the study as well. They are called: B.2, B.3 and B.4. Students will begin unit 1 on Friday focusing on additional school supplies and objects around the room.

6th grade classes: On Monday and Tuesday, students will learn about Spanish days, months, and colors. Pages 3 & 4 should be complete by the end of the week. On Friday, B day will be learning about culture and will have page 5 complete in their packets. Make sure that students are practicing Greetings, Numbers, Days and Months on Quizlet this week for homework.

7th & 8th grade Conversational Spanish: Students will take notes about definite & indefinite articles. They will also learn numbers 1-100. B.3 and B.4 notes will be completed this week. They are also posted on Google Classroom for any students that are absent this week. Students should be studying B.2, B.3 and B.4 by the end of this week to prepare for next week’s assessment on the Bienvenidos Unit.

8th grade Yearlong: Students will review notes on greetings this week. Cartoon projects are due on Tuesday. Notes on subjects and pronouns will be taken this week as well. The quiz on Chapter 1 Vocab 1 will be on Friday, September 22nd. Any students that need to retake the quiz on Spain will see me during lunch on Friday. Week of Monday, September 11th

6th grade classes: A Day will finish up learning about expectations and creating classroom norms on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will learn about Spanish greetings and culture. On Thursday and Friday, students will learn about Spanish numbers. Homework this week will be to complete pages 1-2 in their packets. Also, students will practice greetings and numbers on Quizlet this week during class and for homework.

7th & 8th grade Conversational Spanish: Students will take notes about the Spanish alphabet. The alphabet will not be on the assessment. Students will be learning greetings this week and creating a quizlet account in which I will be tracking they progress. They will be able to download an app on their phones to increase their study progress as well.

8th grade Yearlong: Students will take notes about Spain. Their quiz will be on Friday. 6th grade classes completed the American Sign Language basics: greetings, numbers 1-10, days, months, colors, & culture. Please make sure students will study for their test next week. B day will have their test on Monday, June 12th, and A day will have their test on Tuesday, June 13th. Certain students already retook their Arabic test. Please check Parent Connect to see the new scores. Cultural food day will be on Wednesday, June 14th for A day and Thursday, June 15th for B day. Please discuss with your child what he/she would like to bring in. Students may not bring in backpacks or swag bags next Thursday or Friday (last week of school). Thank you!

7th & 8th grade conversational Spanish classes: Students will be learning tener expressions on Monday. On Tuesday, they will complete a study guide for the exam. On Wednesday, they will have their cultural food day. On Thursday they will take their final exam. On the last day of school, we will play Spanish Bingo to review numbers 1-100 🙂

8th yearlong Spanish classes: Students will learn about the culture of dance on Monday. The Cedar Point trip is on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they will learn about the culture of food in different countries. On Thursday they will celebrate with a cultural food day. On Friday, students will be at their school dance 🙂

Friday, June 2nd

6th grade classes completed the Arabic unit by handing in packets and taking the Arabic assessment. Certain students will retake the assessment today during lunch. Please make sure to have all supplies (folder, thin dry erase marker, pencil, red pen, planner, and Arabic packet). We started American Sign Language this week focusing on culture, greetings, and the alphabet. The packet can be found on my blog or Google Classroom. We will learn about numbers, days, months, and colors next week. The assessment will be the last week of school. Cultural food day will be either on Wednesday or Thursday (the last week of school). Please discuss with your child what he/she would like to bring in.

7th & 8th grade conversational Spanish classes: Students have been learning about weather, likes/dislikes, and liking an object using the word, “it.” They completed the unit 5 listening, reading & writing assessment. Please make sure to have your supplies: pencil, red pen, folder, 2 notebooks, thin dry erase marker and planner. We started to learn about stating the date and months in class today.

8th yearlong Spanish classes completed their final exams this week. We will continue to research information on countries, people & current events next week. Students will also continue to record skits to practice their conversational skills next week.

Progress Reports will be posted this weekend. Students with a C- or below will receive a report next week. Please be checking Parent Connect to see what assignments your child is missing.

6th grade classes learned about Arabic culture and played Jeopardy this week. The Arabic test will be next week on Tuesday (B day) and Wednesday (A day). Every page in the packet should be complete. If there was a substitute in class one day, one bell work spot on the back page will be missing. Please make sure to have all supplies (folder, thin dry erase marker, pencil, red pen, planner, and Arabic packet). I have also assigned Quizlet during class. We will start ASL (American Sign Language) next week.

Please make sure you are checking student planners daily to see what is due the following day we meet. Also, make sure you are on Quizlet.com the day that we do not meet (since we meet every other day). Quizlet.com will verify that you are continuously studying. If you are not able to do so, please email me at jedrzem@dearbornschools.org to verify the day that you were able to log on. If you are having difficulty logging in, please email me or send in a note with your child and he/she will be excused.

8th yearlong Spanish classes completed their chapter 5 test today. We have been writing and completing review activities for chapter 5 this week. They will have their final exam next Thursday and Friday. We will be reviewing concepts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Quizlet.com will verify that you are continuously studying. If you are not able to do so, please email me at jedrzem@dearbornschools.org to verify the day that you were able to log on.
